I'm not quite sure why I had the urge to put the amulet on, but the pulsing sensation was calling me. It was just begging me to put it on and seeing no harm in it, I put it on.

I saw Jessamine watch me in confusion. I didn't have it on for more than a few seconds when she collapsed. I rushed over to her and put my head to her chest. She was barely breathing and was rapidly growing pale. Her pulse was barely there and it was as if she was dead. I began to panic and started to gather her up in my arms to run for help, but suddenly a soothing voice stopped me.

'Easy there my son. She will be just fine. There is another way. The amulet works in more ways than one you know.'

I froze then. The Restorer was speaking to me.

"What is happening. Please tell me, no more indirect answers." I spoke out loud while  gently laying Jessamine back down on the cool grass.

'Yes, it is time. The days are winding down and you must be prepared to fight, both in the physical and spiritual aspect.'

"Why now? Why haven't you given me help sooner?" The desperation and frustration I felt was coming out.

'I could not interfere. Your mother's actions have prevented me from connecting with you as much as I would have liked. Now that you have discovered the magic of the amulet, I will be able to help you.'

"How will I be able to defeat Darkness when you cannot use me as your vessel?"

'Sit and watch over your love as I tell you all you need to know to get through this.'

I did as the Restorer instructed me. I held Jessamine's cold body against mine. Worry was settling in, but I would be patient.

'Your mother gave into the false promises of the Destroyer as it is evident from what you read. It is what Darkness does, he uses individuals for his own sadistic pleasure and to make his presence prevalent in the world. Your mother was right though my son. Where there is Darkness, there is Light and where there is Light , there is Darkness.'

'The amulet you wear works both ways. Your mother used it to suck the Light out of her sister to fulfill her desire to be a mother but the Destroyer manipulated the situation so that the curse would bring us where we are today. However, I have my own methods to ensure Darkness does not reign. The amulet's job is to draw within it Light, which is why Jessamine collapsed. Jessamine is the vessel I chose to take temporary residence in since I cannot reside within you. You are made to be empty and easily give into Darkness which is why you feel his presence more than mine.'

"I don't understand. Just a moment ago, Jessamine said-"

'Yes, I know. As the curse deems, only the death of the tainted one or the pure one will break the curse. Darkness feeds off of anguish and strife. Because this is true and because Darkness created the curse, only your anguish will satisfy him. By nature you are not a killer. You care deeply for your mother, despite her betrayal, and you care deeply for Jessamine. Having to kill either one will cause you great anguish that will strengthen Darkness. Even when the curse is broken through these means, Light will fall. It is Darkness's plan in order to be victorious. Your anguish will supercharge Darkness should either woman die, but look at your beloved. Her skin is white as snow, the breath in her lungs has been stolen, and if you listen, her heart barely beats. The pure one is on the thin line between life and death.'

Silent tears rolled down my cheeks and my chest felt heavy with grief from the truth of the Restorer's words. Jessamine lay on the brink of death and it filled me with anguish. If the amulet stole the light within her, if I take it off, well then Light should return. I grabbed the amulet with the intention of taking it off when my body froze.

Darkness was nearby. I could feel it's slithering presence grow nearer by the minute.

'Quickly, hide the amulet! Darkness approaches!'

I  responded immediately. I tucked the amulet into my tunic and I adjusted our bodies so Jessamine was out of view. I kissed her then. I felt eyes bore into my back but just as quickly as he came, he vanished.

I breathed a sigh of relief.

'He must not know you are aware of the powers the amulet possesses. Keep it hidden from your brother until it is time. If it were to fall into his hands...well there would only be one other option to even have a chance at victory. We won't discuss that for that will not happen. '

"I understand but what will this mean for Jessamine? Will she be okay?"

' Her death is not finite. She will be on the very edge of life and death so as long as you wear that amulet. Once removed,  I will return to my temporary vessel and her life will be restored. During Convergence, you must wear it. I will not be able to reach my full power until I'm in my proper vessel, which is you. She will go down, so make sure she is out of harm's way. I will take care of the rest. Do you understand?'

"I do," my mind was reeling. How can it be so easy though? As if reading my thoughts, the Restorer continued.

"It will not by any means be easy. Once Darkness discovers our trick with the amulet, he will do all he can to find and kill Jessamine. If she is killed, I will be trapped in the Otherworld. I will not be able to return until the curse is broken. You will be on your own then and Darkness will over power you.'

"That won't happen. I will never let anything happen to her. I love her with every ounce of my being. I would die before I let anything happen to her. I will not let my brother or Darkness overpower me." I spoke my words out loud with conviction.

'It brings me great joy to hear that. You have much to do in the name of Light until then my son. You know what you must do during Convergence, but until then, you must weaken Darkness. Darkness feeds on pain and strife so you must stop Adrian from causing havoc in your world.'

My face fell at Light's last words. How the hell would I do that? I am weak.

'You worry too much Lucian. You have much strength to accomplish anything your heart is set to do. Now go, remove the amulet, and keep Jessamine close. She will help you and where she is, I too, will be.'

I felt overwhelmed with all of this, but I decided to embrace it. It is my destiny. It will happen whether I want it to or not. I reveled in Light's presence for just a moment more before removing the amulet and slipping it into my pocket.

Light instantly left me and suddenly the body I held grew warm. Her eyes fluttered open and a small smile crept upon her lips at the sight of me. I hugged her tightly then and sprinkled kisses all over her face. She giggled and asked me "what happened?"

I held her as I told her all that the Restorer had revealed to me.
