Dani's Pov.

dad, alex and mike had already gotten back.  that means lauren and nick should have gotten back a while ago.  everyone was really worried.  

"where could they be?"  mike asked.

"something could have happened!" dad was so stressed.  

"dad, im sure they are fine."  alex looked super worried. "they'll be back soon"  

"i think we should go look for them"  mike paced the room.

lisa and amy walked in with the other boys. they had taken them out some where the whole day.  

"whats going on?" lisa asked.  she saw the look on our faces and got worried.  

"lauren and nick havent gotten back yet!" i cried.

"they should have been back a long time ago, right?" amy questioned. 

"yes!" alex sat on the couch and barried his head in his hands.  

mike ran towards the door. "im going to look in the town!"  

"wait! im coming too!"  dad ran after him.  

christian and joey looked lost.  "we should check the hunters center"  alex stated. 

"okay, ill go with you"  amy said.  

"christian, joey, come with me to the shops."  i told them.

"lisa come with us" alex ran out the door, followed by amy and lisa.  my brothers and i ran as fast as we could to the shops. we got to moms, christinas, and kaths shop.  

"mom!" i ran to her.  

"what is it honey?" she stopped doing something behind the desk to look at me.  katherine was helping a costumer and christina was stocking the shelfs.  

i bent over to catch my breath. "lauren... nick... haent gotten back yet"  i said as i gasped for air.  

"what do you mean?"  mom asked in her sweet voice.  christina stopped what she was doing and come over, katherine finished with the customer.  

"they havent gotten back to the zone!  they should have een back by now!"  i cried.  

moms face dropped.  she turned pale.  "come on!" mom yanked joey out the store with her.  we followed her, christina closed the store up when everyone was out.  

we ran to the town, were a few other families we there, frantic.  others stood by, sympathetically watching us.  i saw dad and mike trying to talk to an official and guard.  uncle tommy ran to dad.  

"guys!"  lisas voice came from behind us.  i saw amy, alex and lisa running towards us.  "we didnt find them"  amy said sadly.  

"OPEN THE GATES!!"  a guard yelled.  the gates pushed open.  a military car came speeding in, crashing into the platform.  a girl and boy stumbled out.  please let that be them.

the girl threw up, the boy laid, stretched out on the ground.  "lauren! nick!"  dad shouted and pushed towards them.  i ran there too.  

"dad!" they exclaimed.  lauren hugged my dad to death, nick just looked shocked or something.  

"where have you been?"  mom asked, running over with the others.  

nick seemed to come back and said, "they took us far out!  runners came!  at first it was hundreds! the others are gone!  we just got out of it!  and man were we wrong! its thousands of runners!!"  nick was in tears.  christina engulfed him in a hug.  

everyone in town was silent.  only you could hear the sobs of the families who lost someone.  

"thousands?"  i asked in disbelief.

lauren and nick nodded there head violently.  

"there lyeing!  there wouldnt be that many!" some one shouted from the crowd.  

"no there was!" lauren argued.  but everyone ignored them and started to walk away.  

"EVERYONE STOP! THEY ARE RIGHT!" a voice boomed over the speakers.  we looked onto the platform and saw the president standing there.  "WE HAVE NOTICED AN INCREASE IN RUNNERS LATELY.  WHAT THOSE TWO KIDS SAID IS TRUE."  he continued. "WE HAVE TWO CHOICES.  CHOICE A, STAY, FIGHT AND DIE.  CHOICE B, LEAVE AND LIVE.  WHICH ONE WOULD IT BE?" 

"B!" everyone shouted.  

at that moment the sirens went off.  everyone scrambled around.  we were shoved around, i got lost.  "dad!  mom!  uncle tommy!"  i shouted out names.  

"dani!" lauren yelled for me.  i followed her voice.  i found her in the middle of the mess, looking frantically for us.

"lauren!" i hollered at her.  she turned around and ran over to me.  "do you know where the others are?"  i asked her

"no"  she shook her head.  

we ran around, making sure to stick together, shouting everyones names.  

"lauren! dani!" a voice shouted.  it was sarah.

"sarah?  wheres your family?" lauren asked her.  

"the left"  sarah quickly said, i could tell she didnt want to talk about it more.  "wheres yours?"  

"we dont know"  i answered.  someone shoved me into lauren, making us both fall over.  

"i think i see them"  sarah pointed over the mob.  she pulled us up and dragged us with her.  and sure enough there they were.

"oh thank god!" mom hugged us. 

"sarah!" alex hugged her. 

"we need to get out of here!" dad told us.  

"they have a bunch of cars parked in the back of the zone, people are using them." sarah told everyone.  

"we need to get one or two"  mom instructed.  

"well come on then!" alex grabbed sarahs hand and they ran.  we followed.  

it was chaos, but we managed to get a van.  it had 15 seats, enough for us.  joey, nick and christian sat in one row.  me, lauren and amy sat in another.  lisa, alex and sarah sat in another.  katherine, christina and mike sat in a row together and then mom and dad up front.  

with a bunch of cars trying to get out of the zone it was backed up.  i didnt think we would make it out before the runners got here, but we did.  all of the cars split up, everyone went somewhere else.  some knew where they would go, others didnt.  like us.

And thats the last chapter!  thanks for reading!  this will be continued into another story, but i wont start it yet.  im going to work on my other stories.  but dont worry, it'll be up soon enough.  i would appreaciate it if you could you could tell me things you didnt like, or you think i need to work on so i can.  i want to make you guys like this.  again thank you so much for reading!
