Syl was dangling from the rope by his neck. He kicked and attempted to stand on something but nothing was there. His face filled with pain and his eyes bulged. I gain the strength to get up and grab onto him, trying to keep his body up so he wouldn't choke so much. Moss grabbed onto my hair, trying to make me let Syl go. I squealed in pain but clung to Syl anyway. I could not let my husband die before my eyes.

Just when I thought Moss would give the fuck up, he flung me across the room. I hit my head on the wooden floor but was still conscious of what was happening.

"I've had enough of the run around. It's time now," Moss declared.

I started sobbing.

This was it.

And it was like time slowed down. Syl dangled in the background. Moss walked towards me, prepared to finish this. My legs covered in blood.
A part of me felt like this was it but I was determined to save my family.. at least one of us.

Moss pulled me to my feet and begun to choke the life out of my weak, bloody body. I held onto his arms, trying to escape from his grip but he was too strong.

I managed to gouge his eyes out. Moss howled in pain, tossing me over to the table in the corner of the room. He covered his eyes, stumbling over air and cursing. I scanned the room quickly before he could regain sight and attack me again.

On a shelf in the corner of the basement, I spotted an old hammer and ran towards it. As soon as I grabbed it off the shelf, Moss grabbed my hair and flung me across the room once again.

What is with him and my fucking hair?

The hammer slipped out of my hand and fell about a feet away. I crept towards it but Moss was really putting up a fight. I could not get away from him. He started to strangle me again. I reached as far as possible for the hammer but it was too far for me to get a hold of. My fingers could only graze the tip of the handle.

Suddenly, there was the sounds of siren coming from the driveway.

Finally!

Moss got distracted after hearing the police kicking off the front door and the multiple men running above us, shouting.

"In the basement! I'm in the basement!" I yelled.

Moss scowled at me and started to squeeze harder. I have no clue how but I managed to grab the hammer. Moss was cutting off all my air supply.

I was extremely weak.

My palms were sweaty.

I was still bleeding.

And I was moments away from blacking out.. or possibly dying.

But I was going to die trying to fight for my life in this basement.

"Get your hands off Mrs. McMaster!" a police officer yelled.

Moss turned to the direction of the police officers and as soon as I felt him release me a little, I swung my arm and knock him in the head with the hammer.

I watched as his unconscious body plopped on the floor before me.

Everything after that was a blur.
