I sat in the conference room later that day watching the sun set through the large glass windows.
I wished I could go out into the real world more often. I had no reason to of course since I didn't have any real friends or anyone who would take time out of their day to walk a daydreaming girl around for a whole day.
Just as the last parts of the sun were gently moving its way past the last buildings the door opened. In my haste I quickly jumped behind the desk because...logic.
I could hear multiple people start to walk in including the Director. They took a seat each and immediately started talking.
"So we have gotten Widow to take care of Banner and we will find out tomorrow if Cap and Iron Man will be joining us."
"They'll be there." Fury's voice made Agent Grace roll her eyes.
"We just need someone to keep an eye on 407. We need to pull Sharon out and keep an eye on Cap from now on so who's gonna take her post?"
Coulson sounded almost lazy as he said it. It probably wasn't a very big concern whatever 407 was.
Fury thought for a few seconds. "407's not our main concern at the moment but we also have never been able to get right into their business to sort anything out either. Sharon couldn't get very far. We need someone who could get into their personal life. Find out if they're doing anything stupid."
I peeked around the corner of the desk and noticed only Fury, Coulson and Hill sitting at the table.
"What about Agent Grace? She would be able to fit right in. We don't know much about the Spider-Man and I think we might need to knew who he is soon. With his body structure he looks around 15,16 years old, but that's with the suit on. She's 15. She could go to social groups or even school and find out who the Spider-Man is."
Fury shook his head. "Agent Grace isn't ready for a mission. Like you said, she's 15. She wouldn't know to do. She would be all by herself and it's all the way out in Queens."
I feel my fists clench in anger. I could do this. It would also give me an excuse to make friends. I wanted this. This was the perfect mission. My mission.
----------------------------------------------
Coulson and Hill had to get back to their stations so Fury was left alone.I came out from behind the desk and he just looked at me not surprised at all.
"Please let me go! This is the perfect mission for me. I'm the only person who could get right in and inspect everything. Please let me do this."
Fury sighed. "You are our best chance. I can't have anyone come away from their posts. Loki is out there doing who knows what and I can't let you go out by yourself without protection."
I scrunched my eyebrows. "I'm basically a ghost. I am right at the bottom of all S.H.I.E.L.D files and no one knows you took me in. I can't be a weapon. I will look useless and I think that's a good advantage."
Fury places his hand on the nearest chair. "Ok. You set out tomorrow morning with us on the Helicarrier's but I will get someone to take you to the airport."
My mouth was wide open and my eyes were bugged out. "Wait, are you serious? Do I get a gun too?"
Fury walked over to me and placed a fully loaded gun in my hand. "It's America. Everyone needs a gun and I'm pretty sure you know how to operate it."
I didn't mean to since I needed to be professional but I pulled him into a hug. "Thank you so much I won't let you down! Natasha showed me a few tricks so that might come in handy."
I quickly pulled myself off of him and re adjusted my uniform. "I think I'm gonna go and pack."
I left the office wanting to jump like a lunatic but I knew I couldn't. This was an important mission that no one had succeeded in yet. I have to find out who the Spider-Man is. The person who would help me not look like a child anymore in S.H.I.E.L.D.
