Alexander slammed the door behind him before tossing her onto the bed. She sucked in a breath as she bounced. She heard Alexander mutter a string of curses behind her. She sat up and turned to watch him. He shrugged on his discarded clothing with slow speed as if he didn't have a care in the world. He picked up her dress and tossed it to her.
She caught it but continued to stare at him in wonder. What was he going to do to her? She wondered as she slipped her dress on with shaking hands.
Once she had it on properly she sat stiff on the bed. He was staring at her with an unreadable expression on his face. He huffed before running a hand through his hair.
"I guess your little planned worked, sweets." He bit out. She flinched at the way he said the words.
"After your little game of cat and mouse, you've put me in a very compromising situation. I probably looked like the big bad wolf trying to devour you." He tsked, "I'm so angry I could spank you silly."
She blushed furiously before standing up, "You have no right to threaten me!"
They stared at each other for a long while before he murmured something under his breath. "You win, Xael. You want my money? My family's hard earned money? I'll give it to you."
Before she could retort he grabbed her by the wrist and snatched the bedroom door open, pulling her along behind him. He dragged her down stairs where her mother and her two lackeys stood.
He stopped at the bottom of the stairs and pulled Xael in front of him, his eyes locking on her mother. "I'm just going to assume this was your idea as well. You should know that you've won a small victory. You want me to marry your daughter? Well, I will."
Xael's mother's jaw dropped and she blinked. "Oh...um."
He didn't give her a chance to explain herself, "You should send your two lackeys off to go and get a priest. We're going to do this now. Today." His eyes threw daggers at the two standing behind the woman and they both heading for the door, not even giving her time to agree.
Once the door closed behind them he wrapped an arm around Xael's waist, pulling her toward the hallway, "The three of us need to have a little conversation." He said.
He led them to the lounge and sat, pulling Xael down beside him. He mentioned for her mother to sit on the sofa across from them. Once she sat he leaned back, his arm still snug around Xael.
"Why don't you tell me the truth, your daughter here, has been lying to me all morning."
Xael blushed angrily. Her mother blushed out of embarrassment. "There's really nothing to tell..."
He made and angry sound deep in his throat, "Tell me the truth, woman. I'm marrying your daughter regardless so stop with the lies."
"There's nothing to tell." She snapped.
He stared at her for a while before scowling. "Alright...fine. Let me clarify a few things. You want my family's money? Fine, I don't mind sharing but you should know that once we're married I own your daughter. She'll be mine and mine alone."
The woman paled, "What...what are you trying to say?"
"I'm saying it'll be like making a trade. I keep your daughter, you no longer need money. Do you understand?"
"No! That's ridiculous! You're making it sound like...like you'll never let me see her again."
Alexander raised a brow, a smirk growing on his face, "Aren't you bloody brilliant! You've caught on, woman!"
"You can't...keep me away from my daughter."
Alexander shrugged suddenly pulling Xael right up against him. She was quiet, her eyes wide with shock at his sudden admission.
"You'll agree to the deal. Because for whatever reason, you desperately need money, or else you wouldn't have used your daughter to get it. But rest assured, Xael will never want for anything. She'll be safe in my arms. And if she is with child, the child will live happily."
Xael finally spoke up, her mouth feeling dry, "I don't feel safe at all." She whispered.
He heard her and merely chuckled, "I never said you would be safe from me, sweets."
The woman shot to her feet, her face red with anger. "No! I could never agree with...with such idiotic, cruel-," he cut her off, "You think this is cruel? Not nearly as cruel as the two of you plotting to trap someone for their money. Now you listen and you listen well, either you take the bloody deal or you don't, I don't care. In the end Xael is still going to be mine no matter which one you chose."
The woman paled as his words sung in.
Alexander suddenly stood, pulling Xael up with him. He tilted her head up, an arm wrapped around her waist. "As for you. I'm only going to say this once. I'm marrying you because you could be carrying my child. There will be no love in this...arrangement but make no mistake, you will be my wife. You'll be in my bed, in my arms...Christ, I can't wait to have you back in my bed. This is purely for revenge, sweets. You and your mother have played with the wrong man. Now you'll face the consequences."
Xael gulped, taking a step back, trying to escape his arms. "You won't really be so cruel..."
He raised a brow, answering her words with silence and a steely gaze. Xael's vision turned blurry as tears surfaced once more. He noticed and wrapped a hand around the back of her neck, leaning down to whisper, "Don't you dare, Xael. Don't you dare cry."
He knew that he would be weak against her tears, he had already felt the strange sensations caused by her sobs once today.
She stared up at him, her big brown eyes filled with fear and anger. A knock sounded on the door, knocking all three of them out of their thoughts. Alexander wrapped a hand around her wrist before looking toward her mother, "Have you made your decision? I'm afraid times up."
The woman opened her mouth to speak but seemed too distraught to say anything. Xael spoke for her, "She'll take it."
"Xael!"
Xael ignored her mother and looked up at Alexander, her eyes pleading, "She'll take it. I'll...be yours...just please. Please do what you said you'd do."
Alexander nodded, falling silent once more before pulling her toward the front door. He pulled the door open and in the doorway stood the two lackeys whom he had sent to fetch a priest. Behind them was exactly what he had asked for.
