The carriage moved at a steady pace, the sound of the wheels turning and the horses neighing drowned out the sounds of Alexander passionately kissing his wife. As soon as the priest had pronounced them husband and wife he had thanked the priest and them told everyone to get out of his house. He hadn't stayed around to see if they had followed his orders or not, he had merely picked her up, stormed out and placed her inside his carriage.

His blood was honestly still boiling but now that he had cooled off, he realized that he might have taken his anger too far. Hugh's were known for their explosive tempers.

Xael sat beside him quietly, her eyes cast onto the floor of the carriage. The silence had gone on for five minutes before he had given in with a long, deep sigh. He pulled her right up against him, cupping her cheek in his hand before devouring her lips, kissing like his life depended on it. That sad look on her face, the brilliance of her large coffee colored eyes did something to him and he couldn't deny that he felt awful for making her so upset.

Her breath mingled with his own as his tongue openly explored the warmth of her mouth. She sagged against him. He had been kissing her for so long she was sure that her lungs would deflate. The carriage stopped and he kissed her for a moment more before running his tongue over her kiss swollen lips.

He pulled away, licking his lips like he had just tasted something delicious. His gaze was carnal...lustful and unforgiving. The carriage door open and he stepped out, pulling her with him.

She stared up at the large estate before them, her jaw dropping in awe. "Beautiful..." She mumbled to herself.

He watched her before smirking, continuing to pull her along. She struggled to keep up with his long strides but did not complain.

"Where are we?" She asked breathlessly.

"My grandparent's estate."

Her eyes widened. She was a countess and even her family estate wasn't this large. She faltered in her steps and caught her. She looked up at him and he scowled, "Walk properly."

She frowned, a part of her wanted nothing more than to argue but she simply nodded. She owed him and even though he didn't know it, she was more than grateful for the money he had promised to give, despite how cruel his 'trade' had been.

They made it to the front door and he pulled the door open, pulling her in behind him. Embarrassment suddenly slapped Xael square in the face. He had not given her time to freshen up at all. She still wore her tight pink ball gown, her perfect chignon was now basically messy bun, her red falling into her face. Her lips were kiss swollen, and her eyes were slightly puffy.

She froze. Alexander tugged on her wrist but when she didn't budge he turned around to look her and frowned.

"I...I can't meet your family...like this...I look like...like," he cut her off with a sly, evil smirk, "Like you've just been ravished. It's a rather good look on you, sweets."

She blushed hard. "You...you wouldn't force me to...to see them like this."

He raised a brow, "It doesn't matter how I present you to them."

"No, Alexander, please! I know you're angry with me but...this is much too embarrassing."

He tugged her forward but she protested and he tsked, suddenly irritated. He yanked her toward him and flung her over his shoulder. She screamed, taken completely by surprise as he stormed down the long hallway with her dangling over his shoulder. Her face, ear, neck and chest flamed. She pounded on his back, "Put me down! Put me down!"

"Xael, don't test me, sweets. I'll make due on my threat earlier. You're my wife now, I have every right."

She stiffened, laying limp as he carried her through the halls. Her hair finally snapped out of the chignon and cascaded down his back.

"Alex...ander," said a surprised deep male voice, "Dear, Lord what are you doing?"

Alexander shrugged, his shoulder poking into her stomach, making her squeak with discomfort. "Don't worry about it, Leo. Just tell me where everyone is, I know everyone's here."

"Uh...they're in the lounge...the lounge closest to the parlor. Are you going to explain this?"

Alexander merely grunted, "Come on, Leo. I want everyone here when I announce this."

He began to move again, his strides easier as if he weren't carrying Xael.

Suddenly he slid her down his chest. He grabbed her hand and yanked her into a large lounge. The room was filled with beautiful, expensive looking furniture. Xael's eyes locked on the assortment of people sitting down, their eyes on the two of them standing in the doorway. Everyone in the room was utterly gorgeous, ranging from beautiful darkened skin women to blued eyed brunettes. Children ran around, some were being held.

Xael felt inadequate standing before them.

Alexander pulled her forward and once again her face flamed in embarrassment over her deshelled appearance.

"This is my wife, Xael."

The whole room filled with gasps and then smiles and words of welcome exploded throughout the space. People stood to embrace her but before any of them could touch her Alexander grabbed her by the arm and yanked her back against him.

Everyone froze, confused as to why he didn't let them welcome her properly.

"Be careful...we don't want to squash the baby, right sweets? What would have been the point of marrying you then?" Alexander said with a smirk, his green eyes gleaming.

Xael stiffened in his arms, her big brown eyes staring up at him with shock. Tears filled her eyes and she pushed away from him. He raised his hands, letting her go easily. She turned on her heels and ran from the room, leaving his family staring at him as if he had three heads.

"What is wrong with you?" Jewel snapped at him as she moved passed him, smacking him on the arm as she and his grandmother raced after Xael.

The women in his family all sent him angry glances as they ran out, one after the other, each smacking him. He took it, the smirk that had been on his face long gone. That teary eyed, innocent look in her eyes. He frowned, she was getting to him.

Once all the women had filed out he was left with all the men in his family staring at him with expectant raised brows.

"It's time for that explanation, Alex," Leo sighed as he plopped down onto the nearest sofa.

Alexander ran a hand through his hair, leaning against the wall. "To make a long story short, she wormed her way into my bed with the plans to make money off of potentially having my child."

Leo sputtered. Aiden, Alexander's father sank down into the nearest seat. His grandfather frowned.

"So, you chose to marry her?" His father asked.

Alexander shrugged, "If I did get her pregnant...I would never allow my child to be a bastard, marrying her was the best option, despite her being the money grubber that she is."

His father tsked at him, "What are you doing?"

Alexander frowned, his eyes flickered to his grandfather's and he groaned. He could already feel the reprimendations coming.

"I know what I'm doing, father." Alexander mumbled.

Before Aiden could another word in his grandfather suddenly spoke, his voice booming and authoritative. "Everyone give Alexander and me some privacy."

Everyone complied, standing and walking out of the room.

"Alexander." His grandfather said his name with dominance. He looked into his grandfather's green cat like eyes, eyes that he had inherited himself. "Sit down."
