Xael woke first, the sunlight shining through the curtains lulling her awake. She moved to stretch but found herself buried underneath Alexander. His arm was wrapped around her waist, his head on the pillow beside hers, his brown-black hair cascading over her shoulder. He was spooning her with a tight grip, his skin brushing against hers with every breath he took.

She took the time to get a good look at him. She had thought him handsome upon first meeting him but now...seeing him close up? The man was truly gorgeous. His lashes were long and black fluttering along his cheeks, thick black eyebrows adorned his eyes. His lips were plump and pink, kiss swollen from hours of doing so. His skin was a tanned caramel that gleamed in the sunlight. His body was lean, strong. And despite his shoulder length hair being unfashionable this particular season it did nothing to diminish how good looking he was.

She stared at him for a moment longer before blinking away her admiration. The man was angry with her...and she couldn't blame him. He had every right to be. He had been nothing but cruel to her the past couple days. Manhandling her. Talking to her with that overly dominant voice. Humiliating her.

It was all starting to be too much and yet it had barely even begun.

She was sure that the rest of her life would now be planted firmly in his hands. She was his now and virtually forever, he could do what he saw fit with her and that very thought frightened her to no end. She shifted underneath him, trying to escape his embrace as he slept. She maneuvered underneath his arm, sliding down the bed. Just as she wiggled from underneath him, he latched onto her, wrapping an arm around her waist.

She squealed a shocked protest.

"Where are you going?" He mumbled with a voiced filled with sleep. His arm wrapped around her in a possessive hold.

She flushed red, her skin blotchy with color. "I was getting a little warm."

He huffed before yanking her onto her back and looming over top of her. He leaned toward her and she squeezed her eyes shut, expecting a rough kiss like the one's he had lavished upon her the night before.

He raised at brow at her before chuckling. His laughter caught her attention and her eyes flew open. She stared up at him in confusion for a moment. He gripped her chin between his thumb and forefinger, a smirk of amusement on his face.

"How are you feeling? I worked you rather hard..." He commented idly, "Your skin is wonderfully soft."

She blushed harder.

He caressed her chin with the pad of his thumb, "Red is a gorgeous color on you. I do like that your body turns such a vibrant shade of it when you're embarrassed. You'll have to remind me to embarrass you more often."

She stiffened, "I want to get up, now."

His grin grew into an almost sinister one but he complied, sliding off of her and stretching his limbs. He stood dressed slowly, pulling on his discarded clothing. He ran a hand through his hair before walking toward the door with leisurely strides.

"I'll have someone draw us up a bath and have your clothes brought up. I'm afraid we slept much longer than I anticipated. We have a dinner to attend. And I," he turned to look at her with a sardonic look on his face, "do assume you like social events? Money grubbers do enjoy attention don't they?"

She clenched the sheets in her teeny fists at his words. He was being pointedly mean and he knew it. She stayed silent but her silence only seemed to annoy him.

"Answer me, Xael." He commanded.

She grit her teeth, mumbling, "I wouldn't know."

He tsked at her response before walking out the door and slamming it shut behind him. She sucked in a breath of much needed air and released it. She leaned back against the bed, her eyes watering. This was awful.
