Xael made a point of flirting with every man at the table. She was sure that she was doing an awful job but it didn't stop her. Many of the men's attentions were stuck on her. Alexander sat beside her the whole time, silently listening, waiting...assessing.

She ignored him to the best of her ability. The women at the table glared daggers in her direction and despite how much it hurt her to be stuck under their scrutiny she continued her flirtations nonetheless. Course one of lunch was served and then course two. Time ticked away as they waited for the next. The orchestra played gentle melodies and many got up to dance.

Xael drank a sip of the wine in her glass before a young, handsome gentlemen walked toward her.

"Would you like to dance?" He asked her with lust brimming in his dark blue eyes.

She felt Alexander stiffen up beside her and couldn't help the grin that slid across her face. "Of course, darling. I'd love to dance with you."

She took his hand and he led her to the floor. He held her close and they began to glide across the floor.

Alexander stayed silent, fuming inside. He was sure that he was making an extremely evil face as he took in the scene before him. He watched them with fire in his eyes as the song played.

The other guests at the table whispered and gossiped but he didn't care. He was stuck on his wife in another man's arms. The very truth of it staring him in the face. He felt ready to explode, he was so angry.

As the song ended his eyes widened as he watched the man lean down and kiss her cheek. Alexander had had enough. He reached for his glass of wine and just as he was about to take a drink he froze. Xael blushed, her face, neck and shoulders turning a light shade of pink that he was more than familiar with. His hand tightened around the glass and it broke. All the guests at the table watched in horror, shrieking in shock as he stood, his chair scraping the floor with a loud ear piercing sound.

He was livid and it was obvious. As if on que the music stopped and all eyes were suddenly on him. He didn't care.

He stormed across the room, heading for Xael and the man holding her. He'd murder him. How dare he kiss her? How dare he make her blush? How dare he hold her in his arms? He had no right!

"Get your hands off my wife before I strangle you." He seethed. Loud audible gasps were heard throughout the room.

The man looked at him before frowning. "Your wife?"

Alexander reached for her, grabbing her by the shoulder and pulling her away from him and smack against his chest. "Yes, my wife! If I ever see you again I'm going to choke the life out of you and-," he turned the toward the preying eyes of the rest of the room, "if I ever catch any of you, hell if I ever even remotely get the suspicion, that any of you are lusting after her I'll bloody well kill you. She's my wife, this gossiping ends today. If her names leaves any of your lips again, I'll ruin you!" He snapped before pulling her toward the exit.

She flushed red, frozen in shock as he dragged her out of the luncheon.

Xael was too stunned to move. She didn't even struggle when he threw her wrap around her shoulders and tossed her into the carriage. Nor did she say anything when he pulled her out of the carriage and into their home. It wasn't until he slammed the door shut that she snapped out of her stunned trance.

She stared at him before puffing. She didn't know how to feel. He had to have been the most confusing man on the planet. One moment he was publicly humiliating her and the next he fuming with jealously and trying to defend her.

"Xael," he said in a commanding voice, "we're going to talk."

She frowned before turning away from him. "No, we're not."
