It wasn't until this moment where I realized how much weirder I feel to see her in person. I have moved on and I'm very happy with Tiffany. She's made me a very happy man. Seeing Erica has completely changed what I feel for her. She'd made me very angry the past 6 years of my life which made moving on easier. She said she couldn't come live with me after Yale. She said she had to protect her family. Mrs Miller was suffering from cancer and Mr Miller just simply wasn't there for them because he was too busy serving this country.

"How have you been?" she asked.
"It's been great, I'm with Tiffany Anderson now. She's making me very happy and I love spending time with her. I heard Mrs Miller–"
"Yeah, it was tough. The apartment became even bigger now without the 2 of them there."
"I'm so sorry."
She nodded. "Anyways, about 2010."
"The September of 2010. I asked you to live with me and you didn't want to, you couldn't and I apologize for being selfish then."
She looked up with a confused look.
"Yea, I'm sorry for being selfish and wanting you all to myself when you obviously needed to care for something that's much bigger than the person I am. I've moved on pretty easily after realizing that, actually."
"Oh."
"You seem a little disappointed."
"It's just that I thought it would be much harder to get the apology out of you. I mean, I've suffered quite a lot and you just didn't seem to care that much back then."
"And I wasn't good enough for you. Look, Erica. The reason I broke up with you wasn't because you couldn't move in with me and marry me and have a future with me and all that shit. You needed someone who could actually be there for you and your family. I was never good enough to protect you, to love you. You were that quiet girl who cared for everyone around her. I was the captain of the basketball team. I had a really big ego and I had a history of girlfriends that media could handle. You deserve more delicate hands than the ones I have. You deserved more, Erica. Way more."
That's when she just broke. That's when I knew that she knew I was right.
"I'll see you soon, I guess?" I walked her to the front door.
Before she walked out she turned towards me. Our eyes connected.
"Happy Birthday, Phillip"
As she walked down the gravel path and went down the road, I said something that I had been meaning to say ever since September 2010.

"I'll always still love you."
