Katherine.

"But baby bro, this is the only girl to have entered our house in order to meet you since your birth." The one I assume to be Abby says, considering she is still pulling my cheeks as she pouts up at him.

"Hey!" I hear another female voice protest and that's when I realize that the whole geek clan stands behind Archer since it's Portia who yells out, giving the twins a dirty look.

Never knew she had enough of a voice to yell.

"Oh shush, Shay, you know you're a different category." The one on the other side, non-Abby, says. Both of them look at me again with Cheshire cat grins and I feel my organs churn.

Maybe coming here was a bad idea.

You've dealt with all sorts of people and you're feeling uneasy about two girls? I wish I could come out there and slap you right now.

But I can't sucker punch these people.

Why not?

"Can you both please let go of her cheeks! She's here to work on the project with us, she's .....A part of our.....group." The way he says group is like there is a lump stuck in his throat.

Well I am not that excited about being a part of your dorkistan either, geekzilla.

Those words made you sound like a bigger nerd than any of them; thank god you said it in your mind. Though you know you should probably stop talking to yourself.

"Sorry about this, these are my sisters—"

"And we are very excited to meet you because it is hard being sisters with a stars wars fan who hasn't had his first kiss even and can't talk to anything that has –"

"Stop, jeez, guys. We aren't even friends so shut up!" Archer bursts out, the frustration dripping from his words, I notice him glance at me when he says those words but I just clench my hands, anger rising inside of me. I'm not sure whether it is due to the sisters and because of what Archer said but I've had enough. I didn't come here for this sort of ridicule.

"Fuck it, I am out of here. Leave me alone." Roughly pulling myself away from the grip of the girls, I turn back to the front door. "Just do the damn project with your geek clan and add my name in it. Actually I don't give a shit even if you don't."

With that, I slam the door and climb onto my bike. I want a release, a proper one. Keith had mentioned something about a fight, checking that out might not be a bad idea. My mind was revolving around the words his sisters had said '...who hasn't had his first kiss even'. They were clearly wrong, He had kissed me. I was his first kiss.

You can't be sure of that. Maybe he goes around kissing anyone he wants to in the heat of the moment and even if you are his first kiss, so what? Doesn't matter. Right?

When Monday finally comes around, I am bruised in places I didn't even know it was possible to get bruised at. The fights had been easy at first, the opponents' amateur bimbos wanting to show off their cat fighting skills to their beefy boyfriends. But the rounds yesterday had taken a toll on me. One of them who seemed about my age, Livic, had messed me up badly. She was young but she was definitely skilled in targeting the weak points of a human body. I had seen the other girls sneering at her but she didn't seem bothered at all. A good way to survive amongst those type of people.

I take a cold shower, trying to prolong it as much as I can, not like it matters if I even went to the classes or not. Angela had taken Ian, trying to act motherly by telling me I needed the rest.

Bullshit. Too late to consider the fact whether or not I need rest or not.

My phone rings just as I come out of the bathroom, seeing the unknown number, a feeling of dread takes over me and I take some time to inhale deeply before pressing receive. The voice that greets me calms me down a bit until I hear Keith's serious tone and words. I start shaking, my mind going blank and his voice becoming muffled. I hear him swear on the other side before he hangs up and I slide down to sit on the bed as my legs give out from beneath me. I can hear my heartbeat rising, the blood rushing through my ears.

This wasn't happening, not again. It can't be.

I am still lost in my daze when the doorbell rings, Keith won't have made it to my house so quickly. A part of me leaps in hope, maybe he had been wrong and I rush downstairs to open the door. But my expectations deflate when instead of seeing mom, I see Archer. His eyes narrow at me but I am too drained to say anything, making him raise his eyebrows in confusion. We stand there in awkward silence for a while, my thoughts somewhere entirely else as he assesses me from the doorway.

"Uh..." He starts, in a try to break the silence, I presume. "I don't usually consider asking you this but are you okay?"

I look at him, tilting my head slightly. My gaze goes from his messy yet seemingly fluffy hair to his confused stormy eyes behind his perpetually askew glasses to the slightly pale lips I had kissed a few days back to the prominent jaw line. I hadn't realized how perverted that might have made me seem considering how everything in my head was a scrambled mess.

"Katherine?"

That finally breaks me from my trance and I blink in response to him, as if seeing him for the first time. I open my mouth to ask what the fuck he is doing here but he cuts me off, asking me if I am alright. His eyes focused on me in an almost concerned way.

Concern, sure. Pfft. I think the stuff you sell is getting to you, Kitty.

I open my mouth again to answer yes but I can't seem to be able to do so. I probably look like a goldfish and as a response Archer steps closer towards me. His hands come up as if to cup my face but mid action, he realizes what he's doing and instead places his hands on my shoulders, shaking me lightly.

"Katherine, tell me what's wrong? Or did you just get some water stuck in your ear and can't hear me?" He attempts to smile but fails miserably. I shake my head but don't step away, my legs wobbling beneath me.

"My mom...." I can feel myself shaking again, my lips trembling as I say the words. I hate the fact that he has to be the one to hear the crack in my voice but at the same moment, I'm strangely okay with it being him and nobody else. "T-they have my mom...."

"Who has your mom, Katherine?" His voice is soft, his eyes looking straight into mine, I can feel the sparks running through my body from the mere contact of his hands on my shoulders but I feel numb. Helpless whilst trying to keep standing but the next words that escape my mouth finally make the tears slip down my cheeks.

"Jared Sinclair." I breathe out, my legs giving out underneath me as I stumble forward. Archer wraps his hands around me to steady us, my cheek crashing against the rough material of his jacket as I start sobbing.
