Song of the chapter: Sycamore Tree by Kali Uchis

Opening my eyes proved to be a struggle as sunlight poured in through the windows, which made it difficult for me to open my eyes without being partially blinded. I resorted to looking straight up at the foreign pale grey colour of the ceiling, inhibiting the stream of light from directly penetrating my pupil.

This is not my room.

I shuffled a little, wishing to better study my surroundings.

And this is definitely not a pillow.

It was then I noticed the subtlety with which my head gently moved in an up-down motion and the firmness with which I was held by the the waist.

Oh.

I tried using small movements to ease myself out of the vice-like grip, but this only resulted in me receiving an annoyed groan. I craned my neck to see Ethan frowning though his eyes were closed. I waited a few minutes before trying again.

"Stop moving." His husky voice tickled my ear, sending a small shiver down my spine.

"I need to get up." My voice came out a little raspy.

"No."

I huffed. I need an escape plan.

"I need to pee." I announced.

"I don't care." The amusement in his voice irritated me.

"Please?"

"No."

"But -"

"No."

It was then I began to wriggle like my life depended on it. It worked; Ethan's grip loosened, but a lot faster than I anticipated. The next thing I knew, I lay on my back on the floor, stunned by the impact.

Ethan's head popped over the side of the sofa that I had previously been laying on, flashing me a mischievous smile. "You okay down there?"

I glared. "I'm just fine, thank you." Prick. With that, I got up and walked away, not before wiping the imaginary dust off my jeans.

In all honestly I had no idea where I was headed, just that I kept on tripping over people who had had a little too much to drink and were currently sprawled across the floor.

I decided to wander about the house, peaking into unoccupied rooms as I walked by.

"Dee?"

I swivelled around, startled by the voice. It turned out to be a very much topless Val.

"Dee, I think I fucked up."

~

"What were you thinking?" I exclaimed, shocked by the information that I had just received.

"Davina, I'm really not in the mood to be judged right now." Valentina snapped, pinching the skin between her eyebrows, apparently still recovering from her hangover.
