Niall's POV

“N..N-Niall?” Liam whispered in the aery silence that was more daunting than the darkness itself. I was finally conscious again, but I had no idea how long for. I tried to answer Liam, I wanted to make sure he was alright, but the only sound that left my body was the grumble of my stomach. Of course, if I wasn’t murdered in cold blood, I would starve to death no doubt. I heard a loud bang coming from behind me, but my night vision wasn’t so up there right now. I was scared. Like really scared. I’ll admit it, and I was dead sure (no pun intended) that this would probably be the last few moments of my time on this planet, possibly Liam’s too. A slight drop of salty water erupted from my eyelid and it was then that I was thankful for the darkness. “Niall...” I heard Liam whisper again. I tried to gesture him not to make a sound, but the struggles that left him replicated a volcano eruption in this heart of silence. One light. Just one. Was all it took. And I saw Liam as the blood poured from his head, his body so bruised, I could hardly recognise him. Did I look the same? I only got a slight glimpse of him before the black hooded figure hovered over him. The tears flowed a river down my cheeks now; I just couldn’t bare to watch. I shut my eyes and tried to blur out the sound of my best friend being beaten to a pulp.

It seemed like forever and a day had passed before there was no sound left to escape from Liam. The black hooded figure had disappeared and left the light on, but Liam was unconscious and unrecognisable. The only sign of life coming from the slight expansion of his chest as he inhaled. I had to get us out of here and Liam to a hospital - if there even was one on this end of the earth. My nails dug into the rope that had my hands tied together as though they would magically turn into a chainsaw and set me free. I tried to look behind my back to see this knot that I was trying to undo, when I saw a cup of water just slightly next to them. I was so thirsty after who knows how long in here, that I knew i just had to get it. We could’ve been here for hours that felt like days, days that felt like weeks or even weeks that felt like a month. I managed to defy my own bodily physics and tried to push the cup over towards me. If I could just lean down with my head and bring it up with my teeth, maybe then I could throw it to Liam and he could at least get the droplets that didn’t drench the floor. A risen crack in the floor stopped the movement of the cup and of course it landed on it’s side, leaving me laying in a puddle. I had remembered watching Bear Grylls on the countless flights we had been on, but never did I think his survival tricks would come into play during my lifetime. I managed to lean down and let my shirt soak up some water on the floor, and pull it up with my teeth to suck the moisture out. Niall. Would A really give you water to survive when that was the complete opposite of the mission? A little voice in my head peered and I felt like I wanted to gag whatever I had swallowed. It’s probably poison. That’s not a painful way to die, is it? The little voice went on over and over again, putting me to sleep.

I was ripped in and out of consciousness as I felt a slight tug on the rope of my hands. I fought the drowsiness as best I could, and saw Liam’s eyes flutter. There was another being other than the two of us in this basement though. Hearing a door slam, my neck managed to turn and see a lady-like figure run from my hands, disappearing into the darkness at the opposite end of the room. The black hooded monster reappeared at the top of the stairs, only to stop dead in it’s tracks as a mobile phone went off. It was Liam’s ringtone. A removed Liam’s phone out of their pocket and placed the phone on speaker as it was answered without a word spoken. “LIAM?! Are you alright? Where are you?!” Harry’s frantic voice was on the other end. Hearing Harry’s voice was so comforting, and I let out a sigh of relief knowing the lads were getting help. As A heard Harry though, the phone was thrown at the wall, and stomped on before the monster walked back up out of the basement, the door closing with a bang. I turned my attention back to Liam, who was awake and staring at me with the biggest most helpless eyes I had ever seen. Hearing more footsteps behind me, his eyes averted past my gaze as his jaw dropped to the ground. What? I mouthed, hearing another door shut. “What did you see? Are you alright?” I managed to whisper out now, hoping we were finally alone. “It’s not what I saw, it’s who I saw...” He muffled out through his swollen lips. “Taylah”. I frowned. “Liam, we’re gonna get out of here, don’t worry. Harry and the lads are coming for us.” I said, feeling sorry for him. “No..I just saw Taylah!” “Liam...Taylah is dead.” He shook his head in disagreement before losing consciousness again. Liam had gone through a lot, surely his imagination was leading to extreme hallucinations. I rested my head back, as I tried to figure out a way to end this mess.

I must’ve fallen asleep, when I was woken with soft hands against mine. My eyes shot wide open as I turned my neck around as far as I could stretch it. There she was. Her luscious dark brown hair covering the face that Zayn would’ve died a thousand times over for. My heart was beating fast. Was I the one hallucinating? “Dead...Lady...Walking...” Was all I managed to whisper as my brain tried to decipher the difference between reality and a dream. She looked up and hushed as she finally got the final knot undone of the rope that held my hands together. It really was her. “T-Taylah?” I said, willingly bursting into tears, so thankful to see her. I didn’t even question the past few months, all I wanted to do was get out of there alive and bring her to Zayn. Her arms wrapped around me before a loud bang sounded and she abruptly ran off into the darkness again. I could tell she was scared and had a bloody good explanation for the ordeal she had gone through. “I don’t trust her now.” Liam whispered, peering one eye open as he watched over the whole thing. I hushed him as I tried to make it look like I was still tied up, ready for whatever A was bringing down to throw at us next.
