The following night, Josh returns to the swings for a bigger purpose now. He wants to see that boy again. When he sits on the swings, he waits and waits. He's feeling ashamed and desperate. He doesn't even know the fucking kid, why the hell is he waiting around to see him?

But an hour into the night, the boy is walking towards the swing set. He's wearing the same ski mask and he sits beside Josh, swinging. Josh gulps down his anxiety and speaks first.

"Hi."

Tyler ignores him, he looks straight ahead at the buildings and swallows his own silent prayers.

"Um, I never got to thank you last night."

Josh is swinging forward and back, Tyler is copying him. They're silent for a moment and all you can hear is the rustling of the leaves. Josh shakes, he's kind of cold. He turns to see the boy beside him and can't help but smile a bit.

"You know, I think the mask is kind sick dude. Sick as frick!"

Tyler tries his hardest not to laugh but he can't help and he chuckles a little which makes Josh laugh even more. He feels accomplished at making the boy smile. Josh can see a faint outline of his lips through the opening of the mask. It's dark out and the moon is fading, so there's not much light but he can feel it, he swears he can feel it. Tyler jumps up and falls down, landing on his feet. Josh notices his black vans and smiles.

"Nice shoes."

Josh wiggles his feet to show off his red vans and Tyler looks before nodding and waving. Then before he knows it, he's running.

"Bye..."

He's already gone but Josh whispers into the wind, hoping that it'll travel to wherever that boy is going.
