Josh's heartbeat was quieting and Tyler took his last strand of energy to squeeze the body in his arm tightly.
He listened to the beats, one by one, until the darkness was dangerously close to him. He had one once of energy left in him and as the beats began to quiet, he squeezed Josh's body tighter in his arms, begging for it to be enough to bring him back.
Before he could find out, his lungs filled with water and his demons grabbed him, pulling him deeper into the darkness, the cold making his body shake one last time.
All he remembers is Josh's heartbeat fading.
