It was a beautiful day. Sunlight streamed into the apartment, highlighting the masterpiece on the wall. It had grown rapidly, full of newspaper clippings, pictures and red thread connecting what Ed viewed to be links.
Selina had gathered many materials for us to recreate ourselves. I decided on a whole new look...red and black reminded me too well of my past. But pink and blue...who knew they could be such a perfect combination! I pulled my blonde hair into two pony tails on either side of my head, one dipped in blue dye, the other dipped in pink. My shirt read "daddy's 'lil monster" and I made the perfect blue and red varsity jacket, with gold lettering on the back reading "property of joker." Accompanied with sparkly blue and red hotpants, fishnets, and killer heels, my outfit brought a whole new level of crazy. When I showed Jack, he grinned and took a bow.
"Har-ley QUINN!"
"You like it puddin'?"
"I love it," he grinned, scooping me up and twirling me around, his purple coat billowing around us. We laughed manically together. The Joker and Harley Quinn...terrors of Gotham.
I stood in front of Riddler's creation, trying to imprint it into my memory.
"I never imagined myself breaking IN to Arkham. It's not going to be easy," Riddler spoke from beside me.
"We know the place inside out, or at least I do, so we've got some advantage, right?" I reassured.
"Right."
"It's all been a mess, Ed, hasn't it?" I said tearfully.
He put his arm around me, concern on his face.
"What do you mean?"
Guiding me to the sofa, Riddler sat with me while I unloaded my thoughts on him.
"It's all a blur. There's so much. I'd do anything for my Joker, but sometimes I don't get that back. He's so..."
"Unpredictable?"
"Yeah. And we lost a baby. And Falcone has my son. And I murdered his father," I gasped.
"You don't know that Guy was his father, Harley. Charlie could be Joker's child as much as Carmen..."
"Well, he's better off without us anyway. We can't raise a baby, look at us," I chuckled, starting down at my attire, "we're crazy."
"Confirmed psychopaths," he agreed.
"We just gotta save Crane. We wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for him." I sighed and shook my head, "am I too sentimental Ed?"
"Nah. You're full on crazy, Harley. But we all have our moments, and obsessions, otherwise we'd get ourselves killed."
"I suppose you're right. Ed, can I tell you a secret?"
"Always."
"Back before Crane ended up back at Arkham, that very night, at the Batcave, Joker told me something," I began, "he told me that...Jonathan has feelings for me."
Riddler's dark eyebrows shot up in surprise.
"Really? I genuinely didn't see that coming," he confessed.
