Red. Everything was red. The sky, the clouds, the ground. Even the slow, sluggish river was a dark red color. The air smelled coppery.

I looked down at myself. My clothes were red. My skin was stained the same color as the river.

The river.

I walked over to its bank, took off my red shoes and socks, rolled up my red jeans, and stepped in.

It was warm, and it was thick, not like water at all. It moved so slowly I could probably walk upstream without any trouble. Except it was thick. I could barely move one foot in front of the other.

Not water then.

Blood.

I grinned at that realization. I was standing in a river of blood that flowed through a blood tinged world.

Paradise.
