You didn't really know why you were always the target of mockery. You'll always wake up each day, feeling utterly miserable. You know that as soon as you step inside your school, students will hurl snide remarks and annoying insults, and would make you feel worse about yourself.
You can admit that you aren't one of the most popular kids in school. That alone made you feel ashamed of yourself. You thought that you can never be as good-looking or as charming as them. Is that the reason why they bully you? What's wrong with being unpopular, anyway? Is it a crime or a sin to make others feel aggravated at you just because you never stood out? You never were as fashionable as others. You were simple, yet, you do know that simplicity is true beauty, right? It's just, others cannot instill that saying in their narrow minds, and it's their own, damn fault. You were also uniquely (chubby/thin). You never had the super sexy body of a model, but, you were different and pretty in your own way, and you have no idea why they don't see that in you.
It was another boring Monday. You sloppily walked towards school with your ever-so-menacing frown. Once you enter the school, your torments will begin within a split second. You practically didn't have a reason to smile anymore, so, you kept wearing your frown until you entered the school.
You walked towards your classroom, but bumped into someone else.
"Just my luck," a shrill voice pierced your poor ears. "Stop making my week miserable, (l/n). Just seeing your face is enough to put bad luck for the rest of the week...", (random bully's name) commented irritably.
You ignored her nasty comment, and proceeded to enter your classroom, but she yanked your (h/c) locks, disallowing any entries to be made.
"O-Oi! What the hell?", you inquired, your blood boiling as you spoke.
"Make some way for me. I'm hot, you're not. Move out of my way...", (random bully's name) remarked as she pushed you to the ground and entered the classroom. You swore that your face hurt after it made contact with the linoleum tiles that made up the classroom floor.
You heard the crescendo of snickers and giggles erupting inside your classroom. Your oppressor's high-pitched laugh, however, was the worst out of the whole bunch.
"What does the floor taste like?", she chided you.
Of course, the whole class burst into hysterics upon hearing (random bully's name)'s witty remark against you.
"Horrible, just like you," you snapped as you stood up and made your way to your desk, then sat in your chair then buried your face in your arms. You began crying out of anger, but you wept softly, not wanting to attract any attention from anyone.
The teacher entered a few minutes later, and droned on and on about boring (least favorite subject) stuff. You swore to yourself that you wanted to fall asleep, but in the back of your mind, you know that a minute of sleep costs an hour of detention, so, you did your best to stay awake.
The bell rang, indicating that it was lunch time. It was truly a horrible day. Your best friend, (best friend's name) is absent today, so, you were all alone. You went to the cafeteria, then plopped down at one of the vacant seats in there, and began to eat your delicious bento.
"Excuse me, but, this seat's taken. Get your stupid ass off that seat, (l/n)!", yelled (random bully's name).
"It's not in a relationship for you to proclaim it as 'taken'," you replied sarcastically as you kept on eating.
"If you want to make a joke, make sure that it's amusing, not corny," (random bully's name) hissed.
You ignored her and continued to munch on your tasty lunch.
"I said, get out of that seat! I'm starving, so, give me a place to eat!", (random bully's name) roared as she yanked the chair you were sitting on, making you fall out of it. What's worse is that you stupidly held onto your bento box. Your food suffered a considerable amount of damage, because it was now all over you.
Everyone in the cafeteria howled with laughter as they say you like that.
Unable to hold back your emotions, you felt tears stinging the corners of your eyes. Soon enough, your tears were already a waterfall. The worst thing is that nobody ever sympathized with you. You just made your way out the cafeteria, and sat on an empty corner behind the school, adjacent to the gymnasium.
You began to bawl your eyes out, knowing that nobody can ever disturb you, and you can lash out in peace. Your knees found their way closer to your chest. You put your head down and sobbed loudly.
You sniffed as you felt someone touching your shoulder. You looked up and saw the angelic face of the male volleyball team's vice captain, Sugawara Koushi.
"Aren't you (l/n) (y/n) of Class 3-3?", he asked softly.
You nodded in response, and sniffed.
"I don't know you and all, but, I heard that you are often getting bullied...", he spoke gently.
You nodded as you bit your lips in attempt to prevent yourself from crying.
"Seriously, I don't see why they bully someone as cute as you," he said.
You blushed as his comment, and for the first time in forever, your mouth finally formed a genuine smile.
"You think of me as cute? Am I not horrendous and ugly?", you asked incredulously.
"Don't say that. I think you're cute," he said as he patted your now disheveled locks.
"T-Thank y-y-you...", you stammered shyly.
"You're welcome. If you want, you can eat lunch with me so that they'll never get a chance to insult you ever again. I will never allow them to hurt you in any way, I promise you," Sugawara declared with a toothy grin. He outstetched his hand and allowed you to take it.
"Thank you, Sugawara-san," you cooed joyfully as you wiped off your tears with the sleeve of your school uniform while standing up, enjoying the warmth of his calloused hand.
The snow-haired setter smiled at you. "Remember, don't think that you are what they perceive you to be. Don't listen to their insults. I can see that you are truly unique and beautiful," he declared.
Tears began to form at the corner of your eyes again. This time, it wasn't out of anger. It was now out of happiness.
"Why do you think that?", you sniffed.
"Because I can see that," he answered.
You gave him a real tight hug, and thanked him repeatedly. He hugged you back, then gave his jacket to you so as to cover the food stains left in your uniform.
"You can return it to me tomorrow. I'll walk you to school tomorrow, if that's alright with you?", said Sugawara.
"It's alright. Thank you, Sugawara-san!", you exclaimed joyfully.
You felt so happy to finally receive consolation after weeks of experiencing hell through bullies. Because of this angelic male you liked for years thinks of you as cute, and is willing to protect you.
