Recap:

"Your dad was in an accident."

Everything was a blur as I raced through the endless hospital hallways. I barely spend a second at the front desk to ask where my father was. The same voice ringing in my head as I ran; "your father was in an accident."

I stared groggily around the unfamiliar rooms. I saw the bed before I saw my father; it had taken up most of the space in the tiny room. I had spotted Gemma, her face was ghostly white and her hands were pressed together as if she was praying.

The moment she looked up at me, I saw how grieved she looked. Red, swollen and shadowed eyes. Her lips quivering as I indulge her in a hug.

"Harry." Gemma croaked out as she laid her head on my chest. I looked up from Gemma's tear stained face to find my mother in a chair in the corner of the room. She was staring blankly at my father as if she could no longer comprehend the situation. I bit my lower lip as I glanced back and forth between the two. I could feel the sorrow and frustration building up in the pit of my stomach. Why must this happen to me? To us?

My father's eyes seemed glued shut. I stared down at him as my mother did; not moving. I ran my fingers of my free hand through my hair out of habit.

"He's in critical condition, Harry," Gemma's weak voice broke my trance, "they're not sure what's going to happen to him."

And that was the moment that I tore up. I couldn't believe it, I couldn't seem to understand why this happened. I just wanted to drive in the middle of nowhere and scream as loud as I can. I couldn't afford to lose my father, my one and only dad.

I burst into tears as I drop myself on the corner of the room, my face meeting up with my hands as I start to have difficulty in my own breathing. I shook my head and shrugged Gemma away when she placed a hand on my shoulder.

This just couldn't happen.

I pressed my palms together as I closed my eyes, hoping that God would hear my prayers. That he would have enough mercy to spare for me and my family. This just can't happen.

I looked up to see my mum's face blank, staring at the opposite wall and my sister sat beside me, her hair a mess and her eyes staring at me with no emotions. This broke my heart. My own family, in grief.

I got up and made my way outside the hospital room, my back pressed against the door of the area. I shut my eyes closed as I breathe out, trying to take in what had just happened. I felt a small tap on my shoulder, my eyes unbolting as I take sight of a confused Bee. I waved at her before I moved my head in the direction of the room so she'd figure out why I was so distressed.

"Oh, Harry.", she wraps her arms around me as my head falls on her shoulder, her sleeves soaking wet as I continue to break into loud sobs. Her hand was rubbing my back as she would casually run a hand through my hair.

"Why, Bee? Why my father? Everything was so well.", I howl, sniffling as I play with the ends of her hair. My tears had finally ran dry, my chin on her shoulder and my gaze focused on the opposite room of ours.

I had stared at the little girl who was laying down on the hospital bed, her hair had shed out as she held onto her stuffed animal. I saw her mother, sobbing onto her husband's shoulder as the doctor speaks with them. I had seen how dumbfounded the tiny girl was. She had no idea as to what was going on at the moment.

"I'm here for my friend, Emily. She works here. She heard that your dad is still in critical condition." I wanted to continue to sob as Bee spoke.

"Harry, I really am sorry." Bee's words were enough to break me. The tears continued to stream as I dug my face into Bee's chest, crying out. I heard Bee's voice trying to calm me down, but I didn't listen. The gruesome and heart-wrenching pain needed to be let out of me.
