Recap:
Maybe we just aren't meant to be.
third person's pov
It's been an entire week since Harry stopped going into the coffee shop.
It's been a week, and yet he still cries himself to sleep.
It's been an entire week since Ariana said words that would be engraved in Harry's head for long.
It's been a week, and she stills waits for Harry to come in the coffee shop.
"Where is he? Bee, it's been a week. Do you think something bad might have happened to him?" Ariana paces around the coffee shop, placing a hand over her chest as she looks around for any sign of Harry.
"Ari, you stormed off him after telling him something you haven't told anyone."
"I know, Bee. I've sent him texts telling him I was sorry for leaving, but he didn't respond to any of them. I tried calling, and every single time I'd go to his house he'd either be sleeping or he's out with his friends."
"Maybe he heard what you said about him."
"That's impossible, Bee. Right? It's impossible, right? I didn't even mean what I said."
Ariana was panicking, that's for sure. She hadn't felt the way she did in a long time, and it scared her.
"Cover for me, I'm going back there." Ariana tells Bee, not really giving her time to reply since Ariana was speeding outside the coffee shop, striding towards Harry's home.
The streets were busier than usual. It was the time of year when the road would be crowded with tourists. It was loud and noisy. Ariana could hear the distant voices of people asking around where the nearest tourist spot could be found.
As Ariana was on her way towards Harry's house, she was stopped by a young lady who looked quite annoyed. "My parents told me to go and ask someone directions. So, do you know where the famous statue could be located."
Ariana kept her gaze on the girl in front of her. She couldn't be more than 20. "Yeah, um..." And Ariana proceeded to tell her the instructions in which she jot down real quick on her arm before she was off to her parents.
"Harry?" Ariana banged on the door gently, not wanting to disturb the rest of the Styles family. "Is anyone there?" And the sound of the television made it known that someone was indeed inside the house.
Ariana pressed her ear on the door to try and listen to what was playing on the television.
"The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more..." Ariana thought long when she heard this line before she sighed, banging on the door again.
"Harry, I know you're in there. I can hear the lines of The Notebook being exchanged. Open the door, please." Ariana pleaded, banging on the door continuously, but she stopped when the house suddenly went silent.
Harry opened the door, just opening slightly with the length of the safety chain.
"Come on, you'll have to open more than that."
And so he did, and right then and there, Ariana saw the distraught state he was in. Ariana made a move to step inside, but she could see Harry move his hand towards the door, knowing he'd shut it in her face. She quickly wedged her shoe on it when Harry moved to shut it.
Ariana winced at the pain due to the impact of the door on her shoe. Harry looked down at her shoe before sighing, moving aside to let Ariana in, knowing she wouldn't ever back down.
"You haven't been going in the coffee shop, and you haven't responded to my texts and calls. I'm worried, and seeing you now, I just wanna know what's wrong. I want to be here for you." Ariana started, facing him as they both stood in the middle of his living room.
"Checking on the person you led on?"
Ariana saw Harry's face fall even more, and she sighed. "Harry, I didn't lead you o-"
"Yeah, says the girl who went on dates with me, who has flirted back with me, who has kissed me on the corner of my mouth, the girl who then proceeds to say she doesn't even feel the same way as me. You definitely didn't lead me on."
"You heard, didn't you?" Ariana whispered, stretching out on arm to reach for Harry, but he harshly jerks away from her hand.
"Yeah, I heard. I came over to bring you some flowers, and to hear you out because I don't like seeing you upset. Biggest mistake of my life."
"Harry, I didn't mean it like that. I didn't mean the things I said."
"Then what did you mean? Cause it sounded pretty much like you don't even like me, and you just felt sorry for me."
"I was upset, Harry. I didn't know the words that came out of my mouth."
"Everyone gets upset, Ariana. It doesn't give you the privilege to go around and hurt people because you're "upset". I was upset when my dad was in an accident, and you didn't hear me saying those things about you. Say I'm happier alone cause you seemed pretty happy when you were with me."
"There was a reason I said that. You know what had happened to me before. I didn't mean it in the way that I'd be happy by myself. I meant it like... Like maybe I'd be with someone one day, and it all fell apart, I might not be able to handle that pain anymore. It's easier to be alone, okay? And then you came into my life."
"So, you're blaming it on me? For coming into your life? You could've just told me you weren't interested. Sure, I'd hurt, but not this much, not this much, Ariana. You just needed to trust me, I would never hurt you. Stop bitching about your past."
"You did not just go there. You don't know shit about what I've been through."
"And you don't know shit about what I've been through as well. Don't act like the world's against you. I was there for you despite all the struggles and whatnot."
Ariana sighed, not knowing what to do. She was now crying, trying to find the right words for that moment, but she couldn't. The sight of Harry angry because of her made her sob even more.
"Where are you going?" Ariana says, seeing Harry walk the opposite of her.
"What do you care? You can stop acting like we had something."
"Harry..."
And he pushed her out of his front door, looking at her for the last time.
"What we had was sweet, and beautiful, and amazing. What we had was good, and I think we're both smart enough to know that it's over."
And before Ariana could say something, the front door had slammed, and he was gone.
