Song/title of the chapter: Cry Baby by Melanie Martinez
"They call you cry baby, cry baby. But you don't fucking care. Cry baby, cry baby. So you laugh through your tears."
[ FOUR WEEKS LATER ]
***
I had been out of the hospital for two weeks now and was already feeling much better. I could walk and run again without feeling pain, although I still had to take it easy.
Karolina, Brad, and my father got into a dispute with the doctors because they had told them that I wasn't going to make it, even though the only major injury I had was internal bleeding, and they admitted that even that wasn't serious. I wasn't aware if they were going to file some sort of lawsuit against them, but I didn't think it was necessary. Sure, they overreacted just a bit, but they still did their jobs and now I'm okay. I do understand where they're coming from, though.
"I fucking hate you." Bella hissed at me as she followed me into the house. I had gone down the street to get the mail for Brad, and she just so happened to be pulling up in a brand new car.
"I'm aware." I said as I placed the mail in front of Brad, who was busy away typing at his computer. He mumbled a thank you and I headed up the stairs, Bella on my trail.
"Who do you think you are? Stealing my car, getting in totalled, and then not facing any charges?" She scoffed.
I shrugged. "That's for Karolina and Brad and your parents to figure out. I'm more than happy to give you the money for the car, although I see you've gotten a new one already."
"I've had that car since forever." She rolled her eyes. "But my new baby that I loved and cherished so much has been destroyed by a reckless bitch!"
"Hey," I pointed my finger at her, "you better watch your tone, Bella. I haven't called you any names and I've already apologized for what happened. You need to calm down."
"Calm down?" Bella seemed amused at that. "You want me to calm down? Is that what you told your mother after every guy she brought home dumped her sorry ass?"
"Don't you dare bring my mother into this." I snapped angrily.
"Why not?" She asked. "That's probably where you get your recklessness from. I mean, there has to be some other reason you got yourself into an accident, right?"
I raised an eyebrow. "No, there isn't. Why would I want to nearly get myself killed? I wasn't even the one driving."
"Because you're hiding something and you don't want the Nicholson family to find out." Bella smirked.
"Wow," I laughed, "you're really fucking delusional, aren't you?"
"You're pregnant, aren't you?" She almost seemed happy at that statement, even if it was completely false. "Your little boy toy got you guys "hit" so you wouldn't have to tell Karolina and your poor little father that you're having a kid."
"Where the fuck did that come from, Bella?" I asked. "That is probably the craziest accusation I've ever heard. I am not pregnant! I never had sex with James. I've never had sex with anyone! Like honestly, you need to calm down."
"You honestly think I'm buying your act?" She chuckled. "You're following in your mother's footsteps. You're going to have your kid, become a useless drunk, and on top of that, a big, fat, ugly whore. Like mother, like daughter."
Yes, her words hurt. Not only her insulting my mother, but her accusing me of being pregnant and then insulting me as well. I didn't want to cry. I was so sensitive about everything lately and I refused to cry in front of Bella. She would only use that to taunt me more.
