Bryn was nervous the whole time she drove to meet Lias. He seemed serious. When she made it there, though, there was no sign of him. Just an empty park. She waited there for twenty minutes before he showed up. He gave her a bright smile which she returned eagerly. This lifted a huge weight off her shoulders.
"Hey." He said cheerfully before pulling her into a hug.
"Hey yourself." They pulled away and walked towards the swings. "So, how come you wanted me to meet you here?" Lias looked around before having her sit down on one of the rickety swings. Then he put his fingers to his lips and whistled really loud. There was rustling in the trees nearby, then a tall figure stepped out with a box in his hands.
""Bryn, this is Max. He's our linebacker." He motioned to the enormous guy standing closer now.
"Yeah and I'm also the one that gets treated like a pack mule." Lias rolled his eyes at his dramatization.
"Max shut up and come here." He widened his eyes and motioned towards Lias.
"You see what I mean?" Bryn started to laugh at his childish behavior. Lias just rolled his eyes and took the box from Max before handing it to Bryn. When she opened it, a tiny head popped out and started to lick her face.
"A puppy?!" She shrieked and lifted it up. It was a baby husky puppy with black and white fur.
"It's my way of asking you to homecoming." She looked at him confused.
"Didn't that already pass?" Both of the boys looked at each other.
"Our school likes to be different. They scheduled ours later than everyone else's. That way there was no conflicts with other schools, and so everyone from our school can go to ours." Bryn nodded. That makes sense.
Lias gave Max a blank look which made him roll his eyes and walk away.
"So..." Lias began.
"So." Bryn smiled at his nervous actions.
"Would you like to go to homecoming with me Bryn? As a real date?" She looked at him for a few seconds for smiling at him.
"I would love to."
Bryn got home and went straight to the kitchen to get food. Lias told her that he would bring her puppy over along with all of its things like food and a leash later on after dinner. Bryn was in the middle of cutting up strawberries when her three brothers got home. Jase and Jax didn't even glance her way before they walked straight into the living room. James, on the other hand, walked right in, smiled at her, and took a handful of her strawberries.
"Hey!" She shouted and smacked his hand away. He just shrugged his shoulders and shoved the strawberries he managed to grab into his mouth. "Pig." She muttered before looking up at him with wide eyes.
"What did you just say to me?" He glared in a jokingly way.
"Um...nothing?" He was about to advance at her, but the doorbell rang. "Ha!" She grinned. "Saved by the bell." When she opened the door, she was greeted by the sight of Lias with his arms full of dog things. Her puppy was on a leash and staring up at her with wide eyes. James walked up behind her, and as soon as he saw the puppy, grabbed it and started petting it.
"Thanks for the puppy. Looks like you're good for something." He joked before walking away with it.
"Hey! That's my puppy!" Bryn yelled after him, but it was too late. He already had it in his room with him and the door closed. She just rolled her eyes. "Thanks for bringing the stuff over." She smiled at him.
