"So what happened?" Lias' mother asked and placed her hands over Bryn's.
"He was playing football and got tackled too roughly. They brought him, and they said he's in surgery for internal bleeding in his brain and a fractured skull." His mother gasped and covered her mouth with her hand.
"Do you know who did this to him?" His father asked and Bryn looked down at the floor.
"Yes." She whispered.
"Well who is it?" She looked in his cold eyes.
"It was-" She was cut off by nurses suddenly rushing around. There was shouting coming from some of them, but they couldn't understand what they were saying.
"What's going on?" James stood up and stopped one of the nurses.
"One of our patients has more bleeding that we didn't catch, and weren't prepared to find." Bryn instantly knew who they were talking about.
"Is he going to be okay?" The nurse just ignored her and barked orders to the others.
After about three hours of waiting, Lias was finally out of surgery. They had moved him to a small room down the hall from the waiting room. Lias' parents went in first to visit him.
When Lias saw his parents walk in, he felt relieved. At least someone told them where he was.
"Hey sweetheart." His mother spoke softly. She was still all worked up. The sight of Lias with a wrap around his forehead made her want to break down. "How are you feeling?"
"Fine." He shrugged. "Just a little sore. Are you the only people here?" They shook their heads and Lias was confused. He couldn't think who else would be here.
"Bryn and her brother are in the waiting room. They followed the ambulance. You had us all so scared." She started to sniff. She definitely was going to cry.
"You do know what this means, right?" His father said sternly. "Now you won't get a chance to get a scholarship for football."
"Bryan!" His mother scolded.
"All his hard work for nothing. Everything we did for him to get to where he is, and one little asshole ruins any chance he has for a future." Lias rolled his eyes.
"Bryan knock it off. It wasn't his fault. Can you just be happy that he is alive right now?" She snapped and the room remained quiet.
"I want to see Bryn now." Lias spoke up. His parents nodded then went out to the room where she was at. James followed her into Lias' hospital room.
As soon as she stepped into the room, a smile lit up Lias' face.
"Hey." He choked. He didn't care how much he hurt, because seeing Bryn made everything better. "Thanks for coming."
"Of course. I'm so sorry what happened. My brother is so stupid." He just shook his head.
"It's not your fault. It was bound to happen from somebody." Bryn made her way to the side of his bed and grabbed his hand. He squeezed hers the best he could.
"How you feeling dude?" James asked and stepped towards him.
"I ache. It sucks that I'm done for the season, too. My dad is right. I did all this work my whole high school career and it ended so quickly." James and Bryn gave each other sad looks.
The two of them stayed with Lias for about two more hours before they decided to leave. It was around three o'clock in the morning, and Bryn was exhausted. She fell asleep in the car on the way home. When she woke up, her brother was carrying her to her room.
Bryn woke up around twelve. She was thankful that she didn't have school. That meant that she could go visit Lias.
When she got to the kitchen to get breakfast, she noticed her whole family sitting at the dining room table silent.
"Bryn." Her father spoke up first. "Come sit. We need to have a family discussion." She gave James a confused look and he gave her an even more puzzled expression. "This family is falling apart." He began and shot looks at all his children. "This whole thing with that Lias boy needs to stop." Jax rolled his eyes.
"Why should we all of a sudden be nice to someone just because our sister decides to be a slut with him?" Bryn gasped and gave him a flabbergasted look.
"Jax! That is uncalled for. You will apologize to-" He cut their mother off.
"I know I know. Apologize to little miss perfect for calling her what she is. Or for the fact that I played football and her weak boyfriend couldn't take a hit like any normal football player." James shot up out of his chair and slammed his hands on the table.
"He is in the hospital because of you! Because you're so thick headed and stubborn! I'm sick of sticking up for your stupid behavior just because you're my brother! Lias had to have surgery on his head for fucks sake!" James and Jax were staring eye to eye.
"I never asked you to stick up for me! Go do whatever the hell you want! You don't control me!" Jax growled.
"I wouldn't stick up for you if you didn't act so fricken retarded all the time! You don't think about the things you do! How can anyone be so stupid?!" The room stayed silent.
"James has a point, Jax." Jase mumbled. "I don't like this guy at all, but what you did was too far. He could have died."
"That would have made things easier for me." Jax said coldly. No one could believe what they had just heard.
"There you go thinking about yourself again. Grow up Jax." James said sternly then sat back down without saying another word.
"You guys are supposed to be my brothers. You're not supposed to choose a guy we've hated most of our lives over me." Jax spat and shook his head.
"They're not choosing him over you! They're being the better person and James is supporting your sister! The sibling you're supposed to look after and keep safe! Not make her want to leave! You will accept that Lias is going to be around." Jax went to butt in, but his father stopped him. "End of discussion." Jax grunted then stormed out the front door, slamming it behind him.
