After that night Dan and I didn't cross each-others path, although I wish we would have I had been busy with my job and school, and Dan was doing whatever he had been doing with his life. Probably partying another couple hookups.
-
I was in the backroom of the record shop looking through the new record arrivals while my music blasted through the speakers plastered around the shop.
The last song in my playlist ended and I walked into the main part of the store to put on a different playlist when I heard the little bell ring.
"Hello!" I yelled, still looking down at my phone.
I started to walk to the costumer who's back was to me, "is there anything I can help you find?"
Th man turned around and I recognized that it was Dan.
"I was hoping you were working." He slightly smiled.
"Yeah, I guess so."
We stood there awkwardly for a few seconds before I spoke up again.
"Are you here to get a record or?"
"I was wondering if you maybe, you know," He looked down; not continuing.
"Woah Dan." I squeaked thinking the dirtiest.
"Oh fuck, I didn't mean anything like that." He looked up with wide eyes, his face turning red.
I have him a confused look.
"No, what I meant to ask is if you would like to go to a party with me tonight?"
I rolled my eyes; "I'm not your party friend Dan."
"No of course not-"
I cut him off, irritated. "Plus after what happened last time-" I quickly stopped myself, muttering an oh shit before turning to walk to the backroom.
"Wait Sophia." Dan yelled as I entered the backroom, him quickly on my trail. He entered the room and I turned to look at him.
"What do you mean 'after what happened last time'?"
"You were pretty wasted Dan, It wasn't anything too drastic."
"It doesn't seem like it's nothing to you." He replied, curiousness in his voice.
I looked down, taking a deep breath before telling him.
"While we were at the party, you slipped up and mentioned your dealer. I connected the dots and realized you smoke pot."
I paused.
"Is that why this is so weird for you? Because I do drugs?"
"No, because that's not all you spilled." I replied
"Then why? Why is this so weird for you to tell me?"
I stood there looking down at the floor.
"Please tell me Sophie." He calmly said.
I stayed quiet for a few seconds before blurting it out quickly.
"Because you said basically said you liked me using more descriptive language." I looked up, faced with a bug eyed Dan.
"I know you didn't mean it. You were wasted that's all. You don't have to be scared, I get it." I reassured him.
"That's not why I'm afraid."
"Then why Dan?"
"Because what I said was true."
My eyes went wide.
"I don't know how Sophia, it just happened. It's crazy because we only have hung out a few times but during that small period I developed feeling for you. And with me, I normally don't do feelings so this is all incredibly new to me. I'm the kind of guy who has sex with a girl one time and never speaks to them again. But with you, it's just different. "
I was shocked, "I don't know what to say."
"Sophie it's alright. I respect that you want time with whatever is going on and I'm still grateful for you as a friend."
I stood up to give him a hug.
"Thank you Dan.""So what do you say about that party?"
