As Dan and I walked to my favorite small boutique, we engaged in a little bit of small talk.
"So how long have you worked at the record shop?" He asked as he sipped his coffee.
"A few months now. I applied for the job after I turned 16 back in December."
"That's cool. I would love to work somewhere like a record shop. It's the vintage vibe that gives it such a warm and friendly feeling.
"Yeah, it is pretty great." I smiled, "I noticed your accent, where are you from?"
"My family moved from the United Kingdom about 1 year. It's been hard for me to shake the accent. Plus the ways Americans pronounce some of their words is just weird to me. Although my younger brother has a noticeably less noticeable accent since we've moved here."
"Do you just have the one brother?"
"Yeah, he's 2 years younger than me."
"Neat. I've always wanted a sibling."
"You want mine?" He laughed as we approached the store.
Walking inside, I imeditally walked over to the discount shirts, choosing a white knitted sweater.
"Alright, I'm ready." I yelled to Dan who walked over and paid for the shirt.
I went into the bathroom and changed my shirt, throwing the other one in my bag and walked out back into the store.
I tapped Dan's shoulder, who was looking out the window. He turned and his eyes seemed to lit up.
"You look nice." He smiled, his dimples forming as he did so.
"Thank you Daniel."

We arrived at Starbucks and ordered our drinks.
We sat at a booth in the back next to a window that was full of steam and condensation. We ended up drawing smiley faces and played tic-tac-toe before our names were called and Dan went up to fetch them.
-
"I can't believe they spelled my name wrong." I pouted, "seriously its S-O-P-H-I-A, it's not that hard Starbucks people.
"Calm down, its not like the world has ended." Dan laughed
I sighed before taking in our view. We had somehow ended up in a park.
"Where exactly are we?" I laughed
"I don't have a clue to be honest."
-
After finding out where we were and enjoying the outdoors for a little while, Dan insisted he drive me back home.
-
"Thank you for walking me home." I smiled "Today was actually pretty fun, besides the whole 'ruining my work-shirt' part."
"Yeah, sorry about that."
"Don't sweat it, shit happens."
"Hey, we should hang out again soon." Dan had suggested.
"Yeah, that would be great." I smiled and reached into my purse and pulled out a napkin and a pen.
I wrote my number on the napkin and handed it to him.
"Call me." I winked and waved goodbye as I went inside, leaving him standing on my porch smiling like an idiot.
