The school year went on. After that one stressful day, Kyoya started using you to relieve his stress, making a nasty habit out of it. You often found yourself hiding in crowds although to no vain; being a commoner, you stuck out like a sore thumb.
Something good did come out of that day though. You learned that as long as Tamaki is around, you're safe. You began hanging around Tamaki more on your free time, whenever he wasn't with Kyoya, that is. You figured that as long as either you or Kyoya are with Tamaki, Kyoya wouldn't do a thing to you.
Of course, there were times you just wanted to be alone. One day, towards the end of the year, you were wandering the empty halls, alone. Because apparently you hadn't learned your lesson about that.
Graduation from middle school was quickly approaching. You were happy, sad, excited, and really had mixed feelings. Since no one was around, you decided to sing to yourself.
"🎶I can hold my breath. I can bite my tongue. I can stay awake for days if that's what you want. Be your number one.🎶"
Or at least, you thought no one was around...
"🎶I can fake a smile. I can force a laugh. I can dance and play the part if that's what you ask. Give you all I am.🎶"
Kyoya was walking behind you. You didn't hear him because of your singing.
"🎶I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. But I'm only human.🎶"
He was going to confront you, until he heard your singing. He was a little moved.
"🎶And I bleed when I fall down. I'm only human. And I crash and I break down.🎶"
He admired your singing voice, but he knew that you couldn't know that.
"🎶Your words in my head, knives in my heart. You build me up and then I fall apart. 'Cause I'm only human...🎶"
When you sang "I fall apart" you heard your voice crack and mentally cursed yourself for it. Good thing no one heard that, you idiot...
Before you could continue with the next verse, Kyoya came back to his senses as your voice cracked. "You can't sing, you know." Kyoya's voice interrupted your singing; you froze in place, scared to turn around.
"You bleed when you fall down, huh?" He asked, pushing you from behind so that you fell to the ground. "I'm not seeing any blood."
"I guess you're not really human then, are you?" He began calling you out while you were already wounded.
"But we can probably fix that." He kicked the side of your head and your nose started to bleed.
He took you down with just one single blow, you couldn't fight back. You wouldn't fight back. But you didn't know why.
"Your voice is too high pitched for a song like that. It just annoyingly cracks." He was pointing out your flaws.
Thanks, because I didn't already know that... You sarcastically thought to yourself, but you couldn't gather the courage to say it.
When he didn't attack you further, you stood up and covered your nose. As you backed up to lean against a wall, he started laughing at you, "Okay, so you do crash and break down," He snickered, "Maybe you are human... NOT!!!" He didn't know why, but he was enjoying this, yet it also tore at his heartstrings.
You both heard a familiar voice yell down the hallway, behind you, "Kyoya~!" Tamaki sang.
He quickly saw your hand over your nose, "[y/n], what happened?" He asked, concerned.
You had no idea what to say as he pried your hands from your nose. Kyoya spoke up first, "She ran into a wall while she was distracted." He stated matter-of-factly.
Why did he have to say you ran into a wall? That's humiliating. He always comes up with such wildfire lies when he tries to cover up the bullying.
"Let's get you to the infirmary." Kyoya offered, placing what looked like a reassuring hand on your shoulder. To Tamaki, it looked reassuring and comforting, but you found it frightening. He was acting so calm that it scared you. You didn't understand how he could, or why he would, switch sides so suddenly.
Even with his switching sides, he always made sure to be picking on the weaker man. AKA: you.
