"C'mon! We are hanging out." Megan hit Sasha's head gently. They still have half an hour of working.
"Are you mad?" Sasha said without even moving her eyes away from the papers in front of her.
"Maybe?" Megan inhaled deeply before staring at nowhere in particular. "What's mad for you? Everybody sees the world from their own point of view so, how can we know who's right and who's not? Everyone has their very own sanity. So, maybe we are all mad but not as much as each other."
Sasha didn't bother herself with listening to Megan. It's like Megan knew she was mostly talking to herself.
Seven years spent with Sasha were enough to let Megan know she wasn't even paying attention. But few days weren't enough to let her know that somebody else is, somebody very close to her desk, somebody new to the staff, the same person she enjoyed watching when he first arrived.
"Stop biting your nails!" Megan growled. "We don't have many products to be prepared. I'm sure we have plenty of time. "
*******************"We have just told Dr. Gordon that we have got an emergency situation to drink milkshakes?!" Sasha shouted under her breath with her eyes rolling around like she's checking that nobody's looking at her.
"Stop acting like you have just killed somebody." Megan laughed loudly in the middle of the small café.
"What are you doing?"
"Calling Steve to come over and get the other- " She suddenly cheered to her phone "Hey!! We're at the café.... 10 minutes?...Alright...no problem...sure!sure!...bye."
Megan turned to Sasha again as she hung up. "They're inviting the new guy as well."
Sasha raised her eyebrows quickly in dismay. Megan didn't know anything at all about Issac.
All she could say about him is how interesting he is to someone as curious as her.
But she did notice that he is a hard worker. He didn't look like one but apparently he never turns away from his laptop and he's always shuffling through his papers. She also knows that he doesn't mind her watching him or gasping at his crazy fingers rushing over the keyboard or his great interest when he's receiving new packs to be prepared."
Despite how illogical and unreasonable it can be, Megan was happy for hearing that Issac is coming over. It was a golden opportunity to get to know him, to know what he's really busy doing in front of his laptop.
"Here they come." Sasha pointed her head towards the door. With a happy beating heart, Megan turned her head to the door.
The light of hope in her eyes diminished when Andy entered with Steve and kate but no sign of Issac with them .
"We tried to help Issac find his feet." Andy said, grabing a chair -which squeaked louder than Megan could bear in her current mood " But guess what?" He laughed. "He stays for extra time." Andy shrugged with a sarcastic look.
"And" Steve said dramatically in a playful tone. "For free." He burst laughing.
"You don't say?" Sasha laughed
"I swear."Andy shook his head.
"I saw him myself." Kate added.
"He's still there?" Megan asked.
"We left him at work, Megan." Steve said even more dramatically, probably because Megan was the one who still hasn't gasped at what they said.
Megan hated getting her plans turned over. She hated waiting for something that eventually didn't come. She also takes steps instantly as well. In that moment, Megan was well-determined and she knew exactly what she would do.
Megan pretended to check the time every now and then and when she finally caught Sasha's attention, she excused herself explaining how worried her grandmother has become.
"It's past midnight. I think I got to go." She finally stood up collecting her bag and stuff.
"Megan worried about it getting late?" Kate laughed.
"Since when?" Sasha narrowed her eyes suspiciously at her lifetime best friend.
"Granny." Megan excused and managed to escape Sasha's questioning eyes.
As soon as Megan got out of the café, cold chills ran through her body. The café was warmer than she thought.
She breathed in the cold breeze and the winter's smell then started walking towards the company.
The streets were dark and empty that she could hear the loud knocking of her own heels and dogs barking faraway every now and then. She smiled to herself excitedly and couldn't resist the childish cheers that took over her.
She finally reached the company, which wasn't far at all from the café. She raised her label in front of the guards and threw a smile at Matt, the only guard she really liked, before entering the building for the first time when it's empty.
She took the stairs and when she got closer to their department, she realized that her heels are loud. So, she took them off! She continued walking on the cold air conditioned floor until she reached the entrance of the office. She stood quietly by the corner of the door.
There he was, serious and focused in front of his laptop with a lit cigarette between his fingers. He was smoking in the department!! She suddenly remembered that she watched movies in the department before and swallowed her surprise.
From where she stood, she couldn't see what he was doing on his laptop but shw knew there was nothing he had to do until the time.
So, she dropped her eyeballs to his speedy fingers but couldn't catch up with their speed. His eyes were moving crazily from side to side. She guessed he wasn't reading, he was more probably searching for something. He seemed to be tired. The sweat drops on his forehead, which was illuminated by his laptop, proved it. He leaned to his side and stretched. The moment he tilted his head to the side, Megan took thousand steps backwards hitting her heels and throwing them towards the walls with a relatively loud noise, compared to the silence around the place.
She picked up her suddenly-hated heels and rushed down the stairs with her heart pounding against her chest. When she got closer to the gates. She put on her heals and with dignity, she managed to walk outside normally like nothing has just happened. She got outside to the cold once more with a mixed feelings of happiness, excitement and slight sensation of fear which made her shake her head and laugh.
