Chapter 17

Maya's POV:
As the sun shines through my window I get up a little more excitedly knowing what today was. Date night!!! Finally! I get up and get dressed and curl my hair loosely. I go down and grab a banana and head over to Riley's place. When I got there I buzzed and they let me in. I found Riley in her room waiting for me. "Are you ready peaches?" she asks me. I nod my head and we head out to the subway to the mall. When we arrived at the mall I was dragged into 4 stores within 25 minutes. I was in the 4th store dressing room with 5 dresses tossed to the ground. "Riles all of these are too much I'm going on a date not a ball" I huffed from the inside of the dressing room. "Come on Maya you have to open up your mind to different things....!" Riley hollers from the other side. "Riles can you find another one this yellow one is way too tight in the upper section." I say through gritted teeth as I tried to pull the dress up before failing once again. "Fine" Riley says and she leaves for 2 minutes as I struggle to get the dress off. As I finally get the dress off Riley comes back and squeals "Maya I think this is the one!!" I stand in the room and say "you said that about the last 3 dresses yet where are we now?" "No no Maya this one is really beautiful it's red and its not poofy or big it's the perfect combination of flowiness!!" She reasons. "Fine this is the last one Riley before we go into another store" I say as she tosses the dress from above. I catch it and put it on with ease. I could feel it hugging me but it felt comfortable because it wasn't tight. She was right it was the right amount of flowiness, it reached above my knees. I look at the mirror and hold my breath from the reflection. I loved it. I looked amazing!! "Riles! This is DEFINITELY the one!!" I holler. "Come out I wanna see it!" Riley says from the other side. I open the door and Riley smiles and walks up to me and says "Maya you look beautiful!!" She walks in a circle around me observing the dress on me. "Maya you have to get this one!!" I nod smiling "I would be a monster if I didn't" I joke. "Hey where's the price tag?" I ask. Riley shrugs and checks the top of the back of the dress. "It's only $25!!" Riley squeals. "Perfect!!!" I reply smiling. "Thank you Riley!! You found the perfect dress!!" We hug and I go back into the changing room to put my clothes back on. We head over to the cash register and pay and head over to the food court and bought Starbucks. As we went home I checked the time to see it was 5:45. "Woah riles I gotta get home and get ready! Thanks for everything!" I say and give her a hug. "Anytime peaches!" She replies. We go our separate ways and I head home. As I enter my apartment I hear noises. Wha-oh ewwww atleast they are in their room I think in disgust the I see my mom and Shawn walk out. My mom was holding her back and said "Shawn that was the best massage I have ever gotten" well that is a better story to go by. They laughed and noticed I was standing there. "Hey kiddo what's in the bag?" Shawn asked eyeing the bag in my hand. "Well it's a dress....." I say heading to my room. "For.........?" He trails "for.....my date? Remember?" I ask knowing he already forgot. "Oh right I wanted to talk to you about that" he says walking towards me. My mom sensed the awkward talk coming and she knew how I was so she said "I'm gonna go take a nap" and hurried into her room. Shawn tried to avoid eye contact and he said "protection?" I gasped. "Shawn!!! We are not doing that on the first date" I say blushing furiously. But we would eventually...... Shawn must have sensed I was thinking about it and said "hey! Keep your mind out of the gutter!" I chuckled at his antics. "Shawn what is this really about?" I inquire trying to get answers. "Look Maya I'm supposed to talk to you about it so you know the rules....." He says trailing off. "Shawn I know them all you know me I'm not that bad.....besides its Farkle we are talking about he knows the limits, we both know the limits of one of us get carried away the other knows the responsibility" I reason. "What if you both....-" I cut him off and said "Shawn it's a first date not a honeymoon" I say chuckling. He nods and says "I know it's just your growing up......." "Aww come on Shawn don't get all sappy with me here" I say punching his arm playfully. He smiles and he Playfully messes with my hair by putting it all over my face. "Thank you for saving me from a sappy moment" he says chuckling. "Now go get ready for your date it's 6:15. I gasp. "Oh my gosh!! I gotta get ready" I blurt out and hurry over to my room. I grab my towel and take a shower. I wash my hair in the process and once I finish the shower part I head to my room. I grab the bag that has the new dress I purchased and put it on. Now I head over to my mirror and blow dry my hair and begin to curl it. As I picked up my mascara I hear my phone make a noise. I look at it to see I got 2 messeges. One from Riley saying 'good luck and have fun!' And the other one from Farkle saying 'I'm on my way'. I smiled as I read his messege. I open the mascara and apply it. I then grab my lipstick pouch and use a bold red matte lipstick. Except this didn't make your lips dry most matte does but this brand doesn't. The minute I finished I heard Shawn yell "MAYA!! Minkus is here!!" "ON MY WAY" I yell back. I grab my purse and grab red flats from my closet. What? You didn't expect me to wear high heels did you? Hah! Anyway I walk down stairs and see Farkle stand almost in a dream like state. "Hey Farkle" I say "uh-um- uhh- h-hey m-Maya you uh look amazing" he stutters. I smiles and say "thanks Farkle you don't look too bad yourself" I winked discreetly so only Farkle could see it. He smiled. "Well we should go um-bye Shawn!" Farkle says over my shoulder. "Bye Minkus! Bye Maya" Shawn yells back. "Bye!" I say over my shoulder. We head out of the apartment complex. We were now outside and we stare at each other for a while blushing. "You wanna walk or-" I cut him off and said "let's walk it's really nice out" he smiles and says "well alright then. As we walk Farkle looks over to me and asks "how much of an idiot did I sound like at your door?" I try to stifle a giggle and say "only a little" he blushed and I stopped and put my hands to his face and said "but it was cute" he smiles down at me and says "man you're killing my street Cred. with the 'cute' stuff" I arch a brow, smirk and ask "what should I say then...? 'Farkle you looked like an idiot but it was hot?'" He nods. I playfully roll my eyes and say "fine, Farkle you looked like an idiot but I will say it was hot" and I winked and he leaned it to kiss me, but as we were about to kiss I turn around so he ends up kissing my cheek. "Aww" he says pouting. "You're gonna spoil your appetite" I say teasing him. "Fine fine you got me" he says chuckling. We then continue to walk. Then I felt Farkle grab my hand. I smile and held his hand. When we arrived we got a booth by the fire. I loved it. As we sat down across each other a waiter walked up to us and said "hello welcome to the Nights Café! I'm your server Emily. What would you like to start off with as drinks?" Farkle looked up and said "I'll have a root beer" Emily wrote it down and looked at me expectantly. "Uh I'll have a Coke" I say, she writes it down and smiles "coming right up" and walks away. We look at each other and Farkle says "you're eyes are blue......." I smile and say "yea....what about it?" Hoping he wouldn't remember my eyes changed colors. "Last time I remember it being grey....." He trails off. Oh boy. "I researched it......." He says looking at me smiling. I blush. "It says that those who have color changing eyes are more likely to be artistic......" I look up and smile. "- and they actually have a hidden talent" my eyes widened and I looked down......he remembers the math thing......aww man..... But atleast he doesn't know that my eyes change color when I'm around him. "-and that it actually changes with certain people" he finishes winking. I'm doomed. "Care to explain......?" He asks. I shake my head no like a child. "Come on Maya we are dating! We gotta make conversation....." Silence. "Ok Maya I guess we will sit here in silence." He smirks. He knows well enough I hate silence. 5 seconds later I mumble "math" he looks at me and smiles and says "what was that...:?" As he puts his hand behind his ear as if he didn't hear me. I smile and roll my eyes and say louder "fine fine it's math the hidden ability it math......are you happy?" I say looking down.
