"Are you really sure that you don't want to come home for Christmas?" My mum asked through the phone. "We've always been together for Christmas."

"I'm sure!" I assured her. "I'll be fine."

"If you say so, honey." She sighed. "I have to go. I'll call you again soon, okay? And I'll get your dad to book you a flight for the 1st January."

"Thank you, mum. Love you." I said.

"Love you, Cassie."

I rushed downstairs to tell my auntie the good news. "I can stay!" I exclaimed. " My dad will book me a flight for the 1st January."

"Yay! That's great, Cassie." She hugged me. "I've to go to work now. I'll be home in a few hours." She said as she put on her coat and high heels.

"Okay... bye," I smiled as I watched her walk out into the rain. It was pouring again. I decided to go for a walk in the rain. I always loved the feeling of rain dripping down my skin. I took my mp3 player, put my earphones in and walked outside into the garden.

I walked slowly along the path, watching the sun set. Suddenly, I froze. The song from our first date started playing on my mp3 player. Never say never by The Fray. I got a flashback of the two of us dancing in the middle of the dark field. I felt a hot tear rolling down my cheek but I couldn't help but smile at the memory of us.

As I looked down onto the ground I heard a familiar voice. "It was the best night of my life." Blake appeared behind me. I turned around and ran up to him to hug him. He lifted me up, spinning me in the air.

"It was the best night of my life too," I admitted. And without even realising, we started slow dancing just like on that night. The heavy rain dripped down from our hair onto our skin. It was like a scene from a movie. I placed my forehead against his and closed my eyes. We swayed from side to side in silence. My arms were locked tight around his neck while he held me around my waist.

For a moment, the world around us disappeared and suddenly it felt like we were on that field again. All the emotions from that night came back to me. It was like magic but it felt very real. He tightened his grip around my waist as he lifted me up and spun me around again. I stared at his lips longing to kiss him. And as if he read my mind, he closed the distance between us with his lips.

"I love you." He said in a husky voice as he placed his chin on my shoulder, still swaying to the rhythm of the song. It's amazing how three simple words and eight letters, can mean so much when they're coming from that one certain person.

"I love you too." I breathed. We kept dancing until the song was over. When it ended, he disappeared again.

"Hey!" Savannah greeted me as I opened the door, followed by Vanda, Jake and Spencer.

Jake waited for everyone go to the living room and said, "I invited Spencer to come. Hope you don't mind."

"No... Of course not." I flashed a small smile.

I closed the door before heading into the living room to join the others.

"I brought popcorn!" Vanda exclaimed.

"I'll go make it and bring us some drinks," I suggested.

"I'll help you." Spencer offered with a crooked smile as the others continued talking.

I stuttered. "Uh... Sure." He followed me into the kitchen in an awkward silence. For some reason, it felt so weird being around Spencer.

"I'll get the drinks." He suggested. "Where do you keep your cups?"
