I was flying home with Stardust on my right, we had just dropped off our food and were exhausted. Everything in my body felt limp with pain and exhaustion. I felt myself drift down a bit but I gave a powerful wing beat that shook my whole body. It hurt to be over exercising my muscles like this but it lifted me back up to Star.
Once we got back I immediately went over to my little cliff in the cave we slept. There was a small hole where I could see the sky. The sky always seemed to motivate me to keep going, to lead me, to always be there. Like the Alpha stars. They were always there, never moved, and always lead us north. But there was one constellation I liked above any. My tired eyes searched the the sky for this one constellation. I knew it was the time of year for it. Finally my milky blue eyes drifted over it. Pegasus. The great winged horse for which I was named after. This was my hope, my inspiration. Once again as I looked over it I felt my small flame of hope to live come back. I looked away from the small sky hole as I called it and looked down. The bare stone was cold and usually I would go to bed cold but tonight, since I had eaten that goose I would have enough energy to warm myself up.
I retracted my teeth and placed my tongue flat against my mouth very instinctively, I then felt steaming hot come out of my mouth. I suddenly stopped , coughing and wheezing I lay down. My whole body shook and I went to sleep then and there. I had a deep dreamless sleep.
My eyes shot open, light was filling in through my sky hole. I looked around and saw that only a few dragons had woken up. I looked around, there was no Pheonix. I crawled down from my cliff, stumbling over everything with my morning feet. I picked my way out among the array of bodies sleeping soundly. I looked up and squinted, my eyes not yet used to the light. It hurt to look around and I got a headache but I kept on walking. I looked around and saw Phoenix sitting on a rock at the edge of the pond. I stumbled over to him.
"Hey, whatch'a doin?" I said softly still adjusting to the sun's rays. "You're the first one up I could tell, you know I know everybody around here." I stated softly. He didn't reply for a little bit so I thought he was ignoring me so I turned around and started to head for the forest.
"Sorry, just tired I guess..." I turned around and saw Pheonix still on the rock, but facing me. His jet black body glinted in the sun, jet black coloring was rare for a night fury, usually we just had some kind of colored dark coloring, but Pheonix was the exception. Jet black bodies usually meant that they were extremely powerful or extremely weak. Everybody though Pheonix was a weak jet black. But I felt they were wrong I knew there was some great power in there even if the others don't see it.
"Want to go hunting?"he suggested.

"Sure" I answered, my flame of hope getting bigger as he spoke just those four words.
