9:What Should I Feel?

It had been a week since the death of Rainstorm. Most dragons had given their respects and moved on. I was still sad but, okay. But, Pheonix was racked with guilt and sadness.
Star had tried to help him through this phase and so had I. Nobody could get through to him though. We had had a raid last night on the island of Frithmore. So, we didn't have to raid tonight.
Me and Firestorm were supposed to patrol our waters to the south today. That would take all day. Great. Well, might as well go get some water.
So, I headed over to the pond and drank until I could drink no more. Winter had started to set in and it was already snowing, because of this I hadn't found a whiff of anything.
"Hey! Pegasas, ready to go?"
It was Firestorm, great. Ugh this really was going to be a long day.
"Might as well go now, I don't have anything to do before we head out." I grumbled back.
"Great." He said in a cheery tone. Why in Thor's name is he so happy? He lifted off and I followed him reluctantly. We flew over the forest in silence, heading out to the ocean.  I gave my wings a strong beat and flew out a head.
He kept up with me, giving his wings a powerful beat as well. He looked at me, my eyes stared back but I still looked ahead.
"I'm sorry." He suddenly blurted out.
"What?"
"I'm sorry ok. I shouldn't have kept you grounded, I took away your freedom of the skies and you didn't do anything but help your friend."
I looked at him speechless, my jaw dropped the slightest bit. My eyes betraying how surprised I was. I was hovering in place altogether. I blinked and, something, a small little bit of me forgave him. Don't know how.
"I forgive you, I shouldn't have been so salty."
We kept on flying forward, chatting and keeping our eyes on the water. It was nice to be friends and hanging out with him again. I had gotten so used to solitude.
"Wait!" Shout whispered Fire. He hovered in the air then dove into the clouds. I was surprised, instead of looking for the danger I flew after him.
"What is it?"
"Look down there." He pointed his claw towards a thinning spot in the clouds. He was pointing at a ship, a Viking ship.
"Your call, what do you want to do?" I asked, he was leader after all.
"We need to get closer and see where they're heading."
"Alright." I answered back, forgetting my fear. We have a duty and an island to protect.
We dove down out of sight, gliding over the water, a white spray surrounding our wings.
We got close to the ships and posted ourselves on it. A big man, bigger than the rest, with a red beard tied up in all sorts of knots was speaking.
(Bold means humans speaking)
"Men! We can do this! We are Viking's, we'll find the nest!"
Then lots of yelling and agreements could be heard. We just decided to leave the way we came. If they were trying to get to the queen, well, they were, dead. Oh so dead.
We continued on with the patrol and found nothing out of the ordinary. So we headed back as the sun set.
"It was nice to spend the day with you, I missed that." Said Firestorm, his beautiful yellow eyes resting against my golden ones.(yes I know they used to be blue, but deal with it)
"I thought it was nice too."
We landed back in camp, trying not to disturb anybody. Firestorm walked over to a rock next to the pond and laid down. I walked over to Fire, and laid down on the rock next to him
We lay there in silence, just relishing in each other's presence.
"Well, I better to be getting to bed now, don't want to be super tired tomorrow. Night." I said kind of embarrassed that we had been so close.
"Night." He whispered back.
I tiptoed around other dragon nests making my way to my own ledge in the corner. I climbed up some rocks that lead to it, little bits of crumbling rocks making little echoes on the floor. I went into the small cave in/overhang and started my fire up, coating the already ash-black rock in fire. I then patted down the flames with my claws and laid down.
I curled my tail around me and closed my eyes, taking a few minutes to dream before I actually fell asleep. A deep dreamless sleep.
I felt myself stir but I didn't want to get up. I tried to go back to sleep but couldn't get comfortable, gently sighing I opened my eyes. A gentle light was pouring from my sky hole. It was only dawn so everybody was still asleep.
I got up onto my feet slowly, each one cracking in their own time. On my feet finally, I stretched everything, getting satisfying tingles. Bones cracking, getting my body ready.
Done stretching, I quietly walked down my little rock pathway. Trying as hard as I could to keep little bits of stone from falling. Once I was down I made my way to the mouth of the cave, but what I saw made me stop in my tracks.
It was the sun, it was rising up in a brilliant display of colors. The light touched everything and I had to squint. This was hope, this was love, this could be my life. I looked out in awe at the beautiful sky.
I was excited for today as I felt the gentle warmness on my scales. I closed my eyes in bliss, ready to tackle the world. Whatever problems arose I would have my friends to support me. One in particular I just knew would always be there. Sweet Fire.
