CHAPTER 2

" Why are u all looking at me like this ? I've nothing to do with this!!" He fumed with anger

" I believe you son, Justin stay in your limits how dare you lay such harsh allegations on your future king" Father roared

" Your majesty I never said that it was your son I said that perhaps we all have committed a mistake in keeping the code." Justin explained

" And I don't understand why are you creating a scene ? Is there something that you're hiding ?" I asked as I was beginning to smell something is fishy

" We don't have time for this my liege we have to act now " Eric stated in Drake's defence

" Yes indeed, Kayden leave it I know that drake can't do anything wrong you are always the one who is after him!! " father said leaning his head towards Drake,frustrated

Well I was shocked was an understatement I was hurt by his reaction I was furious I wanted to shout at him & tell him that he's wrong but still this will rupture our relationship further which wasn't we needed right now so I thought of better and stayed calm
Justin could sense my feelings after all he was the only fatherly figure I had who cared for me he knew my feelings very well so interjected " I'm sorry sire but you should have control on your temper after all you are the king
Prince Kayden is just concerned "

"What are the orders for me my liege?" Eric interject with a victorious expression as if he is throughly enjoying the scene and deep inside my heart I knew he was , he has a tendency of always supporting Drake over me

" someone must go to fight now the question here arises who will go what are your suggestions my ministers?" The king asked

" I think we should send Kayden my liege "Eric said without wasting anymore time as if this thought was lingering in his mind very long ago

"No , your majesty in my opinion we should send Drake as he is the eldest of all and he still has to prove himself to the public as for Kayden he has already proved his worth." Justin kept his opinion without even waiting for me to keep my opinion

"But as we all know Kayden is more skilled than Drake and this is the matter of our pride my lord" Eric cracked following by Drake's & father's approving gaze

"And we should not forget that they are of same age my lord and both are equally valiant " Eric hissed perhaps this was the first time that he had praised me

"But my lord this is a way to risky we should not risk Prince....." I stopped Justin before finishing his talk " I will go " I declared without even asking my father's blessing & permission because I knew deep inside his heart he would never allow Drake to go to war as his love for him will never permit him to take such a decision. Without wasting anytime I took leave from his majesty and told Justin to make all the preparation regarding it
I started to search for River to tell her this news I knew she will be very upset but I knew she was no damsel in distress she was brave and strong , she never shows her emotions .

Finally I found her in the training ground practicing her sword fighting skills well to say that she was a good warrior within some years she has exceptionally done well she has grown into fine warrior especially a girl as in our kingdom women's are not given equal opportunities which is not justified  I can simply tell by her movements and the way she is swinging her sword she is furious about something. As I approached her she heard my footsteps immediately turned to attend the opponent while placing the sword on my neck

When she saw that it's me she immediately withdrew herself from her previous position

I told her about all the scene and my decision upon hearing that she  flinched and I saw her beautiful face masked with angony, torture and anguish which took me by surprise

I soothed her by giving a brotherly hug and promised her that I'll return safely we stayed like this for few moments when I thought that she is fine only then did I withdraw while leaving I finally asked her one more time

"Are you alright is there something bothering you? You know you can tell me ,I'm not that bad in digesting secrets!!"I made an attempt to jest but only silence was all I got as an answer and after a moment she mocked that there is nothing it's just she's fed up of our family drama but I could see in her eyes as a matter of fact she was clearly lying but considering that I've to go to war I let that matter go temporarily

As I was leaving the castle I ordered Mary to look after River as she was like a second mother to her & always took care of her whenever I was away

While leaving I also gave my farewell to Justin who was angry with me was an understatement he was furious with me and also scolded me for taking such a decision only like a father would
But at the same time showed his concern and adviced no more like ordered me to take care of myself

Well I looked around to find my father but like always he was never there for me

So I departed for the city of Akardia to face the next challenge of my life .

Drake's POV
"Do tell me that he's gone!" I barked on Eric while facing the wall of my room

"Yes my prince I'm sure that he will never return I've made all the arrangement for the purpose to be fulfilled and I will sacrifice myself for the cause..........but....." Eric whispered

"But what ?? "I questioned him feeling a little agitated

"My reward sire" he said while bowing towards me

"Don't worry about it you will get it once you finish your job"I croaked

"Does he have a problem with it ?"he questioned me carefully as I don't like to be questioned

"Not at all he's more than happy by giving this reward to you" I said feeling quite content about it

"Now go and stick to the plan I don't want any mistakes this time!!" I barked at  Eric

"As you say, my prince or should I say my future king "
