CHAPTER 5

River's POV

I opened my eyes before quickly shutting them down my eyes felt so heavy, I opened my eyes once more the light being too harsh to my sensitive vision
I could feel sharp pain making itself known plus my head was throbbing  I tried opening my eyes one more time feeling victorious that they didn't shut this time , then I noticed a bandaged wrapped around my injured shoulder as well as I had a new blue gown on

My all thoughts were shifted to Kayden and his well being I hoped, no I was sure that Kayden will emerge victorious as he's a fighter!! Remembering him made my eyes wet I never liked crying but I felt so hopeless

The doors of my room opened and the most undesired person came in through the door for whom I wished that I never saw him
"So you are awake good !" Drake said with a fake smile plastered on his face "I was just thinking what will I say to Eric once he comes back to have his reward if you didn't made it well frankly I don't care but it's about commitment right , it's the question of mine and father's pride" he said

" From when did the Odinson family  started seeing trading of their daughters as a matter of pride?" I asked unabashedly

" Shut up you imbecile girl , you know nothing about politics so keep your mouth shut! You soon will be a slave  and right now you are my prisoner so don't you  dare to speak to me like this !!" He said furiously before landing a punch on my injured arm which earned a loud painful scream from me , hearing my painful scream he seemed quite delirious when all of a sudden a guard came to tell him something which made him left instantly with a worried expression ,my hatred for him increased more than anything I just wanted to show him the meaning of pain but considering the fact that I was quite feeble I let that idea slide out of my mind

Drake's POV

" What is it?" I furiously asked the guard, who went with Kayden

" My lord , Commander Eric......."he timidly said thinking if he should continue which was getting on my nerves

"If you don't say it this instant then I'll have your head now stop acting as a lass and speak !!!" I said as my anxiety was beyond my control

"My lord.....my lord, Commander Eric is no more." the guard said bowing his head down in despair
Well I was shocked to hear the news how is it possible it was the perfect plan with no limitations then how could he defeat this master plan I was inwardly thinking about it
Finally I broke the silence "What about the army ?"I asked the guard
" My lord we eluded we couldn't tolerate the severe blows of prince Kayden
he killed the commander in front of our eyes " the guard said "And what of Kayden" I asked "He lives , my lord" the guard fearfully said well that broke my resolution to stay calm I gripped the guard by his neck just when I was just about to give him a punch when another voice of a guard stopped me "My lord, princess is creating a fuss in the room" he said sternly
Now I lost all of my self control therefore I ordered the guard to kill her even he was taken a back by my decision but he meekly nodded his head and I further explained that she should be killed by burning her room to ashes in the night so the public thinks that it was an accident and it's almost nightfall only some hours are left for the appropriate moment and  then we all will be freed from this nuisance

Kayden's POV

"Faster Asher! Faster my friend we can do it! We have to save River from Drake's heinous acts I don't how much she would be suffering because of me !" I said to boost his power and speed .Asher was not an ordinary stallion he is exceptionally fast  , it's nearly nightfall and we are left with an hour when we will reach our final destination and then I will very elegantly show drake his rightful place which is the dungeon I was quite worried for River after all she the only real family which was so precious to me that I can't afford to loose

Within an hour we reached the castle which was strangely low on its security fear engulfed me by just thinking  of the possible reasons I quickly climbed off Asher and ran towards Rivers room which was greatly lightened sooner I got to know that it was not lightened because of lamps but it was on fire !!

I started screaming for help but there was no one to hear me, I kicked the room door which flew open instantly and blazing fire oozed out of the entrance but I didn't care for myself  I just wanted River to be safe my eyes started searching for her and my eyes found her in chains lying unconscious without thinking I jumped into the blazing fire and instantly approached her I started to shake her vigorously " River please don't leave me , you must be strong " I said While I was trying to get her out of the chains but It wasn't opening there should be a key I thought to myself I knew Drake he would always try to make things difficult and and would hide the keys where it's simply visible to confuse others and my eyes saw a bunch of keys lying on the bed I quickly fetched them and started trying them one by one the fire was choking me but I was still trying hard, finally a key unlocked one of the pair of chains and then I placed the key on the next keyhole to open the other pair I carefully placed my hand on her shoulder to give her while unlocking the lock  once she was freed I carried her in my arms and again jumped over the flames through the entrance to get out of the room carefully shielding her body with mine to eliminate the chances of burns on her body once we were out I carefully put her down her still close my chest.

" River ! Please wake up! River I promise you that I won't let you get hurt because of me ,please don't leave me " I said fighting the tears that I was holding back as her body remained immobile

But with gods grace she slowly started to regain consciousness and I silently thanked God for that , her blue eyes opened and immediately she hugged me
" I knew that you will come ! My brother isn't that easy to defeat!" She said while whimpering I tried to sooth her and we embraced each other for several moments and I wiped her teats and she wiped mine, I noticed that how pale she looked as if all the blood had been drained from her face and she was even wounded I immediately asked her what happened & who did this to her thankfully she didn't stayed silent this time , my blood boiled when she told me everything there was a pinch of hurt that I could feel that how much hatred did our father had for us are we that bad ? Don't we both deserve father's love and affection the more I thought about it the more broken I felt but I didn't dared to show these emotions to River as I knew she won't be able to see me like this

But a lonely tear fell from my eyes for the death of Justin who was like a father to me and I made a promise to myself that I will avenge his death and Drake will dearly pay for what he has done!
