Kevin's POV:

''Hey mom. Why can't you just use your magic to fill up the dishwasher?'' I ask as I place another plate of the table into the dishwasher while my mother is reading a book on the couch. ''I mean, I don't really mind, I was just wondering.'' I say as I grab the last cup and close the the dishwasher. My mom coughs. ''I don't really like using magic for tiny things like that.'' My mom says without looking up from her book. I shrug. ''It's whatever, like I said, I don't really mind. I was just wondering that's all.'' I say while I lean on the back of a chair. ''Well you've done all your chores so if you want you can go ahead and wonder your ass up to your room and go do something fun now.'' My mom says. I smile. ''Thanks mom.'' I say before entering the hall.

I start running up stairs but a movement out of the corner of my eye catches my attention. I take a few steps backwards off the stairs and look at the letter that just arrived. It looks really old. I slowly walk over to the doormat and grab the letter. ''Mr K. Jackson...Holdup.'' I turn the letter around and look at the seal. A big smile spreads across my face. ''Mom. Moooom!'' I yell. ''What is it?'' My mom asks from the living room. I turn on my heels and dash back into the living room. ''Mom, I got it! I got the letter!'' I yell as I hand her the letter.

''My mom inspects the seal and suddenly starts laughing before handing it back to me. ''Go on, open it.'' She says. I smile and drop down on the couch besides her. I carefully break the seal and take out the letter.

I read. Neither my mom nor me seem to be able to stop smiling. She softly pats my head. ''We will go shopping for school supplies tomorrow. Go ahead and have some fun now okay.'' My mom says as she carefully takes the list with supplies from the envelop. I nod and dash upstairs. I wish I could tell someone about this. Too bad my mom is the only witch I know. Oh well, that will all change soon enough.

~Next day~

''Mom, why are we going into a cafe?'' I ask my mom as she opens the door to a shabby looking cafe. ''You'll see.'' She says. No one seems to notice me or my mom as we make our way through the crowded cafe till we reach...''A wall?'' My mother chuckles. ''I told you, you'll see.'' My mom says as she grabs her wand. It's made from Hazel wood, that's all I know. Wands don't really interest me. The thing I'm really excited about if flying on a broomstick. I mean come on. Who hasn't dreamed of doing that. My mom taps a few bricks on the wall in a certain order till the wall in frond of us slides open.

My eyes widen as I gasp. I've never seen this many witches and wizards together. ''Come on.'' My mom says as she grabs my arm and pulls me towards the squirming pool of people trying to get to their destination. I follow her. ''Mom, are we really going to find everything we need here?'' I ask. My mother nods. "Of course. You're not going to find a cauldron, or your books, or you clothes any wear else. And did you think you can just buy an owl or a wand on every corner in London?'' My mom asks. I chuckle. ''I guess not.'' My mom nods. ''Great guess.'' Suddenly, my attention gets pulled towards a group of kids my age struggling to look at something. I stand on my toes to look over them. ''Since I'm kind of tall it's easier for me than you would think. I can see they're all looking a broomstick. But not some old rag. A really streamlined and awesome looking one. ''Wow, mom, look!'' I say as I pull her towards the window. ''That's a broomstick. What about it?'' My mom asks.

Suddenly a young girl besides her speaks up. ''That's not just a broomstick lady. It's the Fragor 3000. The fastest model yet.'' The girl says. My mom looks back at the dark broomstick. Then she looks at me. ''Do you want it?'' She asks me. ''well, yeah but...wont that be really expensive?'' I ask. My mom chuckles. ''We've got more than enough Galleons we can't use in the muggle world. If you really want it, I can buy it for you.'' I start smiling. ''Yes please!'' I say. My mom chuckles and leads me into the shop. ''Thank you mom.'' I say. My mom pats my head. ''Let's say it's a present because you've been accepted to Hogwarts.'' My mom says.

''You see that shop over there?'' My mom asks. I follow her hand till my gaze reaches a shop called Ollivander's. I nod. ''Good.'' My mom says as she presses a few gold pieces in my hand. ''You can get your wand over there. While you do that, I'll go pick up some other stuff.'' My mom says. I nod and start making my way over to the shop.

When I enter the dusty shop I see a girl with black hair heading out with a big smile on her face. Must have just bought her first wand too. I hear the door close behind me and walk over to the counter where a man mid his forty's is scribbling in a huge book. ''Sir?'' I ask. The man looks up and puts down his feather. ''Yeeeees?'' The man asks. I clear my throat and look at the man. ''I'm here to buy a wand.'' I say. ''Ah yes Of course you are young one. Let me look at you.'' The man says as he bows over the counter till the point that his face is only inches away from mine. I was just about to ask him to stop doing that when he pulls away and skips into the back of the shop.

A few moments later he arrives with a stack of about 5 boxes. "Catch.'' He says as he trows them all at me. I panic and try to catch all of them but end up only catching one. ''What was that for?!'' I ask. ''Good job kiddo, now come over here and show me the wand.'' The man says. I walk back towards the counter and put down the box of the wand I caught before I start picking up the ones I dropped. ''Ah, an Elm wood wand with a unicorn hair core. 13 1/4 inches and a brittle flexibility. Yes I think this wand suits you quite well kid.'' The man says as I place the four remaining boxes on the counter. ''Thank you, I think.'' I say as I place the Galleons my mother gave me on the counter and take my wand. ''Wait, what's your name kid?'' The man asks. ''It's Kevin Jackson.'' I say before turning around and walking out the store. Smiling to myself. ''Some people can be so weird and eccentric. It's kind of funny.'' I mutter.

I lift up my head when I hear my mother yell my name from a few feet away. ''Kevin!'' She yells. I make my way through a stream of people so I can reach her. Once I'm finally standing in front of her without being pushed over by a fat man with a bunch of shopping bags more than once I smile at her. ''What is it mother?'' I ask. The grin on my mothers face gets wider as she pulls a bird cage into my vision. Inside the cage sits a beautiful white owl. ''I took the liberty of calling him Snow, I hope you don't mind.'' My mother says. ''I grin widely at her as I take over the cage from her. ''I don't mind, Snow is perfect.'' I say as I smile at the jolly looking white bird that will now be considered part of the family.

''Ready to get he last things?'' My mom asks. I nod. ''Always.'' I say
