''Barbara sweetheart, will you come down for dinner?'' Leah yells from downstairs. ''I'm coming Sarah!'' I yell back as I close my laptop and run downstairs. ''For the hundredth time sweety, why wont you just call me mom?'' Leah asks as I enter the living room. She and Terrence are in the kitchen, finishing dinner. ''I'm sorry Leah, but calling you mom wouldn't be a compliment.'' I say as drop down on the couch besides Romeo, my little brother. Well, he isn't my real little brother. Neither is Leah my mother or Terence my father. The adopted me when I was about six, when my parents passed away because of a plane crash. Not that I care that much. They weren't very good parents, I don't think the even wanted kids to begin with.

''I know sweety, but it would bring me so much joy.'' Leah says. She turns around and looks a me. ''Please?'' She asks. I sigh and pat Romeo's head. ''Of course...mom.'' I say. Leah smiles at me and pats my head. ''Thank you dear.'' She says. ''I prepped the table.'' Terrence says from the table. I never understood why they adopted me. A sudden knock on the door surprises all of us. Even Romeo, who is only 7, looks up. ''Bad timing, I'm hungry.'' Terrence says. Sarah says and walks over to the door.

''I'm sorry but we're eating, can y-'' Leah suddenly stops talking. ''Leah, is everything okay?'' I ask from the living room. ''Honey?'' Terrence asks. I walk over to the door and see an old woman in strange clothes standing there. ''How is that?'' I ask. Leah sighs and turns around. Terrence also enters the hallway. ''It's time we tell her huh, honey.'' Leah nods. ''It's time.''

''What's going on?'' I ask as I look from Terrence, to Leah, to the strange old lady. ''Come in headmaster.'' Leah says. ''Thank you child.'' The woman says as she takes of her high wizard hat and holds it in her hands. ''You must be Barbara, yes?'' The woman asks. I nod. ''yes ma'am.'' I say. ''Barbara, there is something you should know.'' She says. I tilt my head. ''You see Barbara, when you were six your parents did die in a plane crash. But we did not adopt you out of no where.'' Leah says. ''You see, my sister is a teacher at this school for wizard and witches. They wanted you to have a normal childhood and asked us to raise you.'' I take a little step back. ''We always wanted a little girl so of course we accepted, especially after they told us about your parents. Headmaster Mcgonagall said that there was a possibility that you weren't a wizard.'' Terrence says. ''But since both of your parents were magic there was a big possibility that you were.'' The woman says.

''Wait, so magic is real...my parents were a witch and a wizard...and you two adopted me because you felt sorry for me?'' I ask. ''Well, yes, but we still love you.'' Leah says. ''Most children get adopted because they are being found sad.'' Terrence says. Leah elbows his gut, making him grunt. ''You're not helping.'' She murmurs. I can't help but chuckle. ''You aren't mad are you sweety?'' Leah asks I smile at her and shake my head. ''Of course I'm not mad. You two took me in even though I'm strange. You raised me and cared for me like I was your own daughter. How could I ever be mad at you?'' Leah smiles. ''So, you still love us?'' She asks. ''Of course!'' I yell as i start laughing, so does Leah.

''Well, it seems like I wasn't needed after all.'' The old woman says. ''My name is Minerva Mcgonagall child. I'm here to inform you that you have been accepted to Hogwarts, school for witchcraft and wizardry.'' The woman says. I stick out my hand. ''Nice to meet you ma'am.'' I say as she shakes my hand. Headmaster Mcgonagall smiles at me and then looks at Sarah. ''You do remember how to enter Diagon alley yes?'' Leah nods. Mcgonagall nods as well. ''Good, I'll have someone waiting for you at the leaky cauldron.'' Mcgonagall turns around and waves at me. ''I'll see you at school Barbara.'' She says before morphing into a cat and running out the cat flap.

''That was certainly strange.'' I say. ''Are you feeling okay?'' Terrence asks. I shrug. ''It doesn't really feel like anything has changed.'' I look at my 'parents'. ''Why didn't you guys tell me sooner?'' I ask. Leah sighs. ''Because there was still the possibility that you weren't a witch after all. We didn't want you to be disappointed or afraid.'' Leah smiles apologetically. I nod. ''I understand. But, what was that 'diagon alley' miss Mcgonagall was talking about?'' I ask. ''That's where you buy supplies.'' Leah answers. ''Awesome, when are we going?'' I look at Leah. ''After dinner.''

~Later~

''Okay, we got your robes, your cauldron your books. We need you pet and...'' ''A wand.'' I look at Leah. She's struggling to carry my books while I've got my cauldron neatly stuffed into each other. ''Oh, of course, your wand.'' Leah says. ''Do you need help carrying the books?'' I ask. Leah shakes her head. ''No no no no no, you go ahead and get a wand. I will check and see how to go about buying a pet here.'' I nod and look around me while Leah enters the pet store besides us. Not too far from me I see two girls about my age leaving a store. It's called 'Ollivanders'. "I guess that must be it.'' I say as I clutch the cauldron around my arm and start heading over to the store.

''Ah yessssss, you seem familiar girl. Pure blood, I assume.'' I look at the gray haired man. ''I think I am pure blood yes.'' I say as I walk over to the counter calmly and place down my cauldron. ''I don't know if you know my parents, I know I don't. Not really, at least.'' I say. I don't break eye contact with the man. ''Oh, now I see, you're the Elliot girl aren't you? Yes, I've heard about the tragic death of your parents. Such a shame, they were such nice people.'' Before I can stop it I let out a cold laugh. ''Well, not me at least.'' I stare at the man. ''I already know what house you'll be in little girl.'' The man says as he turns around and grabs some rectangle shaped boxes from a large bookcase besides him. ''I am certain one of these will do the trick.'' He says as he places the boxes in front of me. I stare at the boxes. ''Well, go on girl, do it.'' The man says. ''I'm sorry, I've been raised by muggles so I do't really know what to do now.'' I say with an apologetic smile. The man smiles at me. ''You see, the trick is to feel. You need to become one with your wand at one point, so why not start now?'' The man sounds cheerful all of a sudden. ''Alright, I'll just-'' I get cut off by the sudden rumbling in one of the boxes.

''Did you hear that too?'' I ask. The man only smiles. I look back at the boxes and try to determine which one just growled at me. I place my ear over the cases when suddenly I can hear the growling really loudly. I take a step away from the box I had placed my ear to and gasp. I look at the man again. He gestures me to revert my attention back to the wand cases. I slowly open the case when the growling gets louder. I hesitantly reach out to take the wand but as soon as my fingers touch the smooth wood of my wand the growling stops. I take the wand out of the case and smile. ''Ebony wood with dragon heart string core. 12 3/4 inches. Unbending.'' The man says as he starts writing in his big book on the counter. ''Elliot...?'' ''Barbara, Barbara Elliot.'' I say as I place the wand back into the case, close it, and hand the money to the man behind the counter.

''Barbara, why is it taking you so long. Did Stephan eat you or something?'' I turn around to face Leah as she enters the store. ''Leah Burrell, it's been years.'' The man behind the counter says as he hops over it to give Leah a hug. ''Hi Stephan, long time no see. How's business?'' Leah asks. ''Great, great as always. Barbara!'' Hi sudden out burst makes me jump. ''You didn't say you were being raised by this beautiful human being, how's Sarah doing sweetheart? I think I saw her waiting outside for some muggle boy a few hours ago, is she well?'' I look around as Leah and Stephan are happily talking to each other. If a teacher was escorting a different kid, that must mean I'm not the only one who has no idea what's going on here. I smile to myself. ''Barbara are you ready to go? I already picked out a lovely cat for you back at the pet store, you'll only have to name it. It's black.'' Leah says. I turn to face her once again and smile. ''Yes let's go.'' I say. ''So how are you going to name it?'' I think for a bit as I follow Leah out the store. ''I don't know yet, maybe Shadow.''

''Maybe I was wrong.'' Stephan Ollivander mutters as he watches the two woman leave the store. ''With people like Leah Burrell raising her there is no way she'll be a Slytherin. A Ravenclaw will be more likely.''
