The explosion was quick and unexpected, not to terribly harmful unless you were close to it, and I, of course, was quite close.
I had been down in engineering working on some pipes, listening to my country music when there was a spark and the gas from a leaky pipe combusted and caused an explosion large enough to send me flying and the pipe to brake off at the joints, landing on my abdomen.

I let out a soft moan as the pain all came back. My head is killing me and a searing pain was coming from my abdomen. I let my eyes flutter open, only to be met with the soft brown eyes of a certain southern doctor that often reminded me of a grumpy cat.
"Hey darlin'. How ya feelin'?" He asked as he checked my vitals.
"Like shit. What the hell happened?" He huffed out a small chuckle and set down his clip board on the bedside table, taking a seat by my bed.
"There was an explosion down in engineering and you were pretty close to it. The only damage caused directly from the explosion is a minor concussion but a pipe had fallen and landed on you, it took five of us to get it off of you. It cracked your pelvis." He looked worried and as if he were in pain too as he held my hand. Bones and I have been friends quite some time now, but I can't help but want a little more than that.
"Well, that's nice. I'm alright now, I don't want to keep you from work Leo." He shook his head and patted the back of my hand gently.
"Nup. I'm stayin' right here Terri, and there ain't nothin' you can do about it." He huffed and I chuckled lightly but stopped when a stabbing pain shot through me and I groaned. "You should sleep. Want me to sing to ya?" No one else knew it but Bones is a great singer. I nodded and closed my eyes and listened to his gentle voice as he stroked my hair.
"Amarillo by mornin', up from San Antone
Everything that I've got, is just what I've got on
When that sun is high in that Texas sky
I'll be bucking it to county fair
Amarillo by mornin', Amarillo I'll be there. They took my saddle in Houston, broke my leg in Santa Fe
Lost my wife and a girlfriend somewhere along the way.
Well I'll be lookin' for eight when they pull that gate,
And I hope that judge ain't blind.
Amarillo by mornin', Amarillo's on my mind.Amarillo by mornin', up from San Antone
Everything that I've got, is just what I've got on
I ain't got a dime, but what I've got is mine
I ain't rich but Lord, I'm free.
Amarillo by mornin', Amarillo's where I'll be
Amarillo by mornin', Amarillo's where I'll be."My eyes closed and just as I drifted off I felt Bones' lips gently graze my cheek and I heard him whisper, "I'll be right here when ya wake up darlin', promise. I love ya." And sleep took me.
