(a/n: reference to weed in this chapter.)
We made it to the venue without any murders. Thank the lord for that. Brendon and Allison kept me on one side of the bus and Jon and Spencer kept Ryan on the other. But that didn't stop Ryan from making a snarky comment every time I spoke.
"Do you guys want help setting up equipment or something?" I asked, walking with the roadies towards the inside of the venue.
"Oh. We don't need help. Marty, go help Ames set up the merch." Scott said, looking at Martin. He nodded and waved at me to follow him.
"So, you're doing the merch with me?" I asked, looking up at Martin. He was tall, taller than I am.
"Yeah. Allison and I have known each other for years. She and Ryan both asked if I could help out. So, I packed up and left to help out." He replied, looking back at me.
"Ah. So, you know Ryan." I stated, looking ahead as we walked towards the back of the place. A table was set up and ready to have stuff set up for merchandise.
"You know, he isn't that bad."
"Trust me. I've known Ryan for a few years now. I don't know why. But, he is a dick." I scoffed.
"Well... Once you get to know him. He isn't that bad." Martin stated, as we made it to the table. We pulled out the boxes from under the table and placed them on top of said table.
"Even if I tried to 'get to know him'. He'd know something was up. He hates me. I hate him and life is just easier that way." I pulled open a box and saw the dozens of shirts. "I must've said something to him when we first met and it rubbed him the wrong way. I have said sorry. Trust me, I did. He just hates me." I added, pulling out the shirts and placing them on the table. Martin was doing the same but with other merchandise items, like posters and buttons and shit of the sort.
"He likes to smoke. You know that. Ask him if he wants to bum a butt." He said, looking at me, walking over to the other side of the table. He picked up a small box and placed it on the table.
"Martin, he will literally think something is up if I do that. We're fine with hating each other. Because if it weren't like that, we'd probably be a thing and I don't think Brendon would like to hear two of his best friends are dating. I mean, come on. I wouldn't do that to him. I'm not a bitch. If Ryan and I did actually date, and we broke up, Brendon would have to pick between Ryan and I. I wouldn't do that to him." I finished, looking at him.
"I'm just saying, Ames."
"I know you're just saying. But, I'm good with what I have with Ryan. And that's it." I stated. Martin nodded.
"Fair enough. I was just saying. Maybe you two would make a nice couple." He stated, looking at me.
"You just met me." I scoffed. He placed the box back on the floor under the table and came out to stand next to me. "Well, you and Allison would make a nice couple too."
"Funny that you say that." He smirked at me as we walked back towards the backstage area.
"What?!" I stopped in my tracks and looked at him.
"Three years now."
"How old are you two?"
"Ally is 28 and I'm 25." He replied, looking at me.
"No..." I gaped at him.
"Well, Iman is 30. And Scott and Matthew are 23. So, Ally is literally the most mature person that is an of age person. Cause, you're what? 17? 18?"
