This is getting really embarrassing. I've been waiting here for almost an hour and people are starting to stare. This is not what I thought my first week in this dumb town would end up like... Sighing, I looked at the menu trying to find a third thing to order since I've gotten here. "Hey Hun, I'm sorry to tell you but we're closing soon are you sure you don't want to the bill yet?" The waitress frowned sympathetically. "Uh..y-yeah I'll take the b--"
"Wait!" I looked up to see the cutest guy on the face of the earth running towards us and sitting in my booth across from me. Wait, what? What the hell is happening?? "Sorry I'm late babe I got caught up at my job and couldn't get here until now." Leaning in he whispered to me "Just go with it."Whoa whoa whoa. Sorry about that, you must be a bit confused right now huh? Okay wellll let me rewind this story. My name is Iris, Iris Shields I'm 17 and this is my sappy ass love story that all of you have to deal with. Okay, well that is if you keep reading. Anyways back to the beginning.

"Iris Sweetie, please come downstairs for a second!" I know that tone. I walked downstairs to my mom. "Yeah what's up?" I asked raising an eyebrow. "We're moving, I got a job promotion and it'll be really good for us." My eyes widened. "You're joking right?" She sighed and leaned in against the counter. "No honey, I'm sorry it's all so sudden. I've been meaning to tell you but I know you'd take it hard because of the friends you have here and I know this is the house you grew up in." Hell yeah I'd take it hard! The fact that you're just telling me now doesn't make the situation any better! I snapped out of my annoyed thoughts and looked at my mom realizing I had been having a conversation with myself for the the past 30 seconds. "No, it's uhh it's fine." No it isn't. "I'll be okay, you're right it'll be good for us." No I won't and maybe good for you but for me? I don't think so. "I'm glad you're taking this so well" She's smiling like a huge weight had been lifted off her shoulders even though it was just put on mine instead. "....so when do we go? And where exactly are we moving to?" Now my curiosity was just killing me, it couldn't be that far could it? "In a bout a week, it's in Washington" Wait what?? Am I hearing this correctly?? "Washington?!, you mean the state above us right?" "Nope. Washington, across the country Washington." She's lost it, she's completely lost it. "Washington DC?"
"Yes Iris. I mean Washington DC, now have you room packed by the end of this week, you'll have time to say goodbye to your friends during that time." She says as she starts making dinner. You see I'd tell my mom how I really feel but she has a serious job, and a jerk for a boss. She'd probably get fired if she turned it down. "Okay." I smiled trying to make my mom feel less sorry then turned to walk upstairs.*******************************
"Please tell me your kidding!" I frowned and shook my head at my close friend Jasmine. "I'm not, she told me yesterday"
"I'm gonna miss you.." she frowned. "Yeah, I'll miss you too." I hugged her and sighed. "Let's just get to class." I nodded at her response and walked to our AP class.********************************
"Don't forget to FaceTime and text me okay?" I smiled and laughed a little. "Don't worry I won't." I hugged Jasmine and a couple of my other friends then got in the car waving goodbye. "Ready to leave sweetie?" My mom smiled gently. "As ready as I'll ever be.."
It's been four hours since I've gotten on this flight and I don't think I've ever been as antsy as I am right now. Not to mention this kid has been kicking the back of my seat and a baby is crying in the back. Typical right? Sighing, I got a hold of my headphones and decided to listen to music the rest of the flight.
"Iris, Iris sweetie wake up." I fluttered my eyes open to my mom shaking me. "We're here, it's time to get off the plane." Thank God. I yawned getting up. "Okay let's go then." Nodding, she got up and trudged out the plane almost looking as tired as I was. I don't blame her the last time she most likely heard a baby crying for more than an hour was probably when I was born.
