After storming out of the school I sat on a bench out in the front to try and calm down. "Iris! Are you okay??" Quickly wiping my tears I looked up to see Kayla and Nathan with worried looks on their faces. "Yeah.." I took one look down at my shirt and sighed knowing that I probably seem like I'm over reacting. "Sorry that you had to see that..." Kayla took a seat next to me and while Nathan kneeled down to look and see if I'm okay. "Were you crying?" I shake my head obviously lying. Whenever I cry my eyes like to turn really red. "Iris..." Nathan looks at me frowning. Sighing in defeat I nod. "Why were you crying? You showed her, her place pretty freaking well if you ask me." I smile lightly at Kayla's attempt to make me feel better. "Thanks.." I should tell them... "This was my dads T-shirt...he passed away when I was 6. We were really close..it's an emotional topic for me and I guess I got pissed off when she spilt all of my food onto it for no reason." When I say 6 something must have clicked in Nathan's head back to when he asked me about my art and love of old music because his frown turns to a sad smile like he's understanding and learning more about me. "Don't worry about me guys I'm okay, I just overreacted that's all, I probably had a burst of anger raging through me at that moment." Kayla shook her head and sighed frustrated like she knew something. "What?" I ask looking over at her. "That girl that did it, she deserved what you did to her don't regret it." She responds and I look over at her curiously. "Who was that bitch anyways?" She turns her body towards me and seems almost as mad as I was. "Lexa Kate." I raised my eyebrow. "And how do you know her?" Sighing she rolled her eyes. "I've been dealing with her ever since I've moved in with the Rylan's. She's some jealous whore who drools over all the popular guys." She answered making quotes with her fingers when she said popular. "So she was one of the girls that were swarming Nathan this morning and got mad because she saw me with him?" Kayla nodded her head sighing once again. "Sorry you had to deal with that. I'm also really sorry to hear about your father I didn't want to ask because I knew it might have been uncomfortable for you to talk about." How do I deserve such great people in my life. "Thank you." She smiled knowing that she had made me feel a little better. "Let's get you changed I have a T-shirt from gym you could borrow." I raise an eyebrow at Nathan's comment. "Hey it's clean! I just washed it, I promise you won't smell like a dirty gym sock." I laugh and smile. "Okay good, thanks." He smiled and kissed my cheek. "No problem cutie." Blushing I smile up at him. "Alright, whoa are you guys finally a thing orrr.." I look over at Kayla who's looking back and forth between us and laugh a bit. "No we aren't."
"Yeah right. we'll see about that." Kayla answers smirking. After we all stand up and start walking back in Nathan looks over at Kayla. "You sounded a lot like Hunter when you said that." Kayla blushed and ignored the comment going inside while Nathan and I started laughing. "When is she going to realize." I sigh. He looked down at me smiling. "Not sure. So you need help changing?" Blushing red I look up to see a smirk across his face. Haha wow, so funny. "In your dreams Nathan." Laughing I walked back inside the building with him following behind. "Awe, come on cutie, You said you liked me. I'm already living the dream." Giggling, I shake my head. "Dream bigger then. So where's your shirt I feel gross.""You look cute in my shirt." Glancing down at his shirt that's basically a dress I notice that his first and last name is on it making me blush. "Now everyone knows to keep their hands off my girl." This boy will be he death of me. Raising an eyebrow I look at him. "Your girl? We aren't even dating yet." He smirks looking at me. "Key word is yet, sweetheart." I laugh a little and rolls my eyes lightly smiling at his little comment. "That is if I say yes." His smirk turned to a pout. "Awe, no fair." I really wanna kiss those pouty lips of his. We haven't kissed since the time I told him I liked him and I'm not sure if it's right that I do..is it? I really hope it's okay because I'm on edge right now. I mean it's still lunch and no ones around... When he notices I was lost in thought he puts on a smug smile like he read my mind. "Thinking about kissing me?" Blushing red I bite my lip. "N-no.." I quickly look down at my hands as he chuckles. "Awe, haven't seen you nervous around me in a while, that must mean I'm right." Quickly shaking my head I turn the other direction embarrassed. It wasn't long before I felt two strong arms wrap around my waist and turn me around to face him. "How nervous are you now?..." I gulp and look up at his deep forest eyes feeling calm. "Not..at all." Feeling myself being pulled closer I blush with my lips centimeters away from his. Just then I hear the cafeteria doors open as Kayla's laugh echoes through the hallway along with everyone else's. Shit. "Well, well, well, what do we have here?" Blushing red I look over seeing Kayla and Adrian squealing with excitement while all the guys smirk. "Nathan! My man!" Chase high fives Nathan while I glare up at him. "This is embarrassing." Hearing the bell ring I smile innocently. "Whelp, last class of the day! We gotta go bye!" I grab Nathan's hand and pull him to our class. Dammit, Lexa is in the class and I don't want to deal with her. As we walk in I look around to see Lexa and her friends eyeing me down like I'm their prey or some shit. Sighing annoyed I walk to my seat and sit down while Nathan takes a seat next to me. "Ignore them." He says while leaning over to me. I smile lightly. "Oh trust me, I'm trying." Sighing he smiles. "Good."
"Hey mom! I'm home!" I stood there but no response. She's probably working late again. Thank god I don't have homework today. Grabbing my shirt I throw it in the washer then go upstairs for a nap.
"Iris, wake up." Who's shaking me right now? They should know not to wake me up during my naps. "Irissss, wake up sleepy head." The smell of fresh clean air you get during those long drives at night on a forest road fills my senses. Either I'm dreaming or Nathan's hovering over me, because I know that strong scent. Wow I sound creepy. Groaning I turn the other way still tired. "Fine, move over a little." Wait a second. Quickly sitting up at look over to see Nathan. "How did you get in here??" Chuckling he gets in bed. "Got in through the balcony." Seriously? "How corny can you be?" He smiles enjoying my question. "As corny as they come." Scrunching my nose I make a sarcastic smile. "Cute." Raising an eyebrow he smiles. "Thanks?" "No problem and for further reference." I respond crossing my arms. "Don't wake me up from my naps next time. I'm tired...and..why did you come over?" "Do I need an excuse to see you?" Yeah right. "What do you need Nathan?" I giggle. "Alright you got me. I wanted you to go out with me tonight, I'm bored." Tonight? What would we even do? "You know it's Monday right?"
"Oh sorry I forgot you're a goody two shoes." He did not just- "You know you're talking to a girl who almost got into a fight just because some girl spilt my lunch on it right?"
"Mhm, I do." Is he trying to trick me into going? "Not gonna work dork." I smirk moving away from him a bit. "Awe, come on. It'll be fun, just wanted to go for a drive." He says trying to convince me. "Have you ever not gotten what you wanted?" He laughs. "Well yes, I'm not exactly made of money, but this? I'm gonna win because I'm about to drag you out of bed for it." He says smiling. "Nathan. I swear-" Getting out of bed he pulls me off throwing me over his shoulder. "Nathan! Let me down! I'm not even changed yet." I start laughing hysterically as he begins tickling my sides. "P-put me d-down!" Laughing he shakes his head. "Not happening sweetheart, we're going on a little drive." This kid I swear. "F-fine! J-just stop tickling me! I'll do anything!" I immediately get set down seeing a smirk across his lips. "Anything??" He asks seeming satisfied with my deal. "Yes..?"
"How about we finish off what got interrupted earlier at school?" Thank the heavens above. "I mean..if I have to." And there's my stubborn self not wanting to admit that I was butt hurt when everyone came out. He laughed a little and leaned in pressing his lips against mine. Blushing red I closed my eyes and kissed him back. Is there an award for best kisser? I'm pretty sure this guy won it. Gently I pull away and smile while he frowns. "No no, don't make me feel, bad you're the one who chose to tickle me. Now get out so I can change, then we can go." He smiled sighing sadly. "Okay cutie." I giggled pushing him out my door and start changing. (Outfit at the top) After getting dressed I brush out my hair and wash off left over make up I had on my face from my nap. I can't believe I looked like that the whole time. Grabbing my phone I walk out and go downstairs to see my mom standing with Nathan. Oh no. "Oh there you are Iris, I was just getting to know your new friend." My mom says smiling at me with questions obviously pushing to get out of her. "Uh yeah..this is Nathan...do you mind if I hang out with him for a bit? I was just about to call you.." Ready to hear my mom say no I cross my fingers behind my back then hear the complete opposite. And I'm really surprised. "Yeah sure! Just be back by 11:30 at the latest, No later." I look at her waiting for her to say she's kidding or for a catch but she just stares at me smiling happily. "Really?" I ask confused by the outcome of my question. "Yup!" She's probably gonna bombard me with questions about him when I get home. "Okay...ready to go Nathan?" I say grabbing his hand and pulling him out of the house. "It was nice meeting you Mrs. Shields!" Nathan smiles and waves kindly as I drag him out before my mom changes her mind."So where are we headed?" I ask buckling my seatbelt and look over at him. "Wherever the road takes us." He answers starting his truck up. "Is the road taking us to late night ice cream?" Smiling innocently I bat my eyes at him. "It does now." He laughs.
