"So see ya at lunch?" I nod as a response to Kayla's question. "Yeah see you then, oh hey--uh Kayla?" Is she looking behind me? "Oh look at the time, gotta head to class. Bye Iris!" Kayla smiles smirking at me and turning my body around in a completely different direction running off. Why'd she? Holy.. "Uh oh H-hi". Why am I stuttering? Stop that! He chuckles and looks at me. "You're Iris right? Heard a lot about you around here." My eyes widen and I sigh. "Yeah, I'm Iris. Kayla wasn't kidding when she said they'd start talking about me..oops uh sorry. You're James right?"
"Correct you are." He smiles and put his hands in his pockets. "I was wondering if you wanted to hang out sometime?" I raise an eyebrow and laugh a little. "I barely know you." Well now I sound like a bitch. "I know, but I couldn't wait to ask." He doesn't seem like a bad guy. "Hmm, sure." He chuckles and smiles. "K cool, see you Saturday? We can meet up at the Cc's Diner." "Damn you had this all thought out didn't you?" I say smirking. "Well yeah maybe I did, I knew you'd agree to it." Someone's cocky.. "And how exactly did you know that?" He shrugged. "Just a good guess."
I cross my arms studying him for a second. Studying him? Yeah right. Just an excuse to check him out. Shut up! "Alright. What time then?"

"So how'd it go?" Kayla smirks sitting across from me at the lunch table. "How'd what go?" I ask eating a fry. "Yeah right, you know what she's talking about." Adrianna smirks and sits next to Kayla with Jace on the other side. Oh right, you guys don't know these two yet. Well Jace and Adrian are Kayla's best friends I'm pretty sure she mentioned them being friends since 5th grade. Anyways, they're just as nice as Kayla has been to me. I'm glad to have friends like them this fast. "I have no idea what you're talking about." I say avoiding eye contact. "Yeah right, Iris. Come on, spill." Kayla says smirking as if this is the most interesting thing in her life. Pretty sure it isn't. "Okay okay! We're just going to hang out, I'm meeting him at that little diner in the town around 7 on Saturday." I look up to see Kayla and Adrian's devious smiles and then there's Jace who looks like he could care less. Wasn't expecting him to be intrigued in my relationship problems anyways, I mean, he is a guy. "So whatcha gonna wear?" I just shrug at Adrianna's question. "Probably the same old style. Not trying to impress him. I mean what's the point in dating a guy if you feel like you can't be yourself around them."
"So you do like him!" They both shout. My eyes widen and I almost choke on my fry. "Shhh! Quiet down!" I whisper shout trying to calm them both down. "I'm interested in him, there's a difference." Kayla just laughs. "Yeah right some big difference that is." I roll my eyes and laugh. "Shut up."

"Thanks for the ride home Kayla." I smile and get out. My moms car broke down so she had to use mine for her job this week. "No problem, hey." I turn and look at her. "Don't forget to keep me updated with what's happening." She's really enjoying herself with this. "Yeah sure." I laugh. "See ya at school Monday." Waving, I walk into my house. "Hey mom I'm home!" She walks out of the kitchen and smiles. "Hey sweetie, you like your new school? How was this week?" I collapse down on the couch tiredly. "It was good, I made a few friends. I'm gonna hang out with someone tomorrow night if that's okay."
"Yeah, that's okay..Sooo." Here we go. "Is it a boyyy??" Groaning I look at her. "You too?"
"What?? Can't a Mom be curious about her daughter's love life."
"Ew, please don't call it that." I say looking at her the way I look at sea food. And I seriously despise seafood. "Okay okay, but I'm serious who is he?" "How do you know it's a guy? I didn't tell you." She raises her eyebrows. "I'm your mom I know everything." "Alright, slow your roll Einstein. Yes, it's a guy. But that doesn't have mean anything. Just a guy and a girl hanging out." I sigh looking over at my mom and sit up. "Mhm sureee." She giggles. "Whelp, I'm gonna go upstairs now." Standing up I start walking away. "Is he cute?" Seriously? "Mom!" Sighing as loud as I possibly can, I go upstairs and to my room.
You see, I'm not a hopeless romantic like most girls my age. Sure, I'm a fan of chick flicks but, I don't necessarily feel the need for all the cheesy stuff to happen to me. I think it's all too predictable. Valentine's Day? Chocolates and flowers. Christmas? Kiss under the mistletoe. New Years? Kiss at midnight. I'm assuming you get the picture. I'm not a kiss in the rain kind of girl. Either I'm just really difficult or I haven't found the right guy, who knows.
