"Iris! Nathan! Dinners ready!" I quickly sat up to the voice of my mom yelling. "C'mon Nathan lets go downstairs for dinner." Nathan sits up with his hair messy and a goofy grin on his face. I'm assuming you know what happened here. "Oh stop smiling twinkle toes. Never kissed a girl before" I laugh. "Not like that." He smirks while my face turns red. "Okay changing the subject.. my mom called us down for dinner, I'm assuming that her boyfriends here." Standing up, I pull Nathan to get up with me. "Lets go pretty boy." I laugh lightly and help fix his hair.

Soon after, we both walk in only to see my mom talking to a man in the kitchen with his back towards us. So this is the guy?.. "Oh Iris! This is Adam. Adam, this is my daughter Iris and her good friend Nathan." She smiles sweetly. More than good friends now. "So you're the famous guy my moms been seeing for a while?" I say raising an eyebrow. "Hmm, are you serious about her?" I ask crossing my arms. "Iris! Sweetie don't be so rude." She says slightly embarrassed. "Nah it's okay I get it. I'm dating her mom I'd be keeping a close eye too." Well I guess he's smart then, and I haven't seen my mom this happy in a long time... "So mom, what'd ya make for dinner?" I smile taking a seat at the table. "I made my famous pasta with some salad." She smiles proudly setting the dishes on the table. "Oh here, let me help you." Adam stands up and grabs some of the dishes from her hands setting them on the table. Hmmm. I watch keeping a close eye on him. "Iris." I look over to Nathan who's whispering to me. "Hm? What?"
"He doesn't seem that bad."
"Are YOU kidding me? His name is Adam for Christ's sake."
Nathen stares at me with confusion then continues. "What's wrong with the name Adam?"  Raising an eyebrow at him- "Adam is one of the most douche baggy business man names out there." He keeps staring at me with a blank expression. "....You're such a strange person Iris I don't understand you sometimes." We finish whispering when my mom stands in front of us curiously. "What are you two going on about?" She asks while putting her hands on her hips. "Uhhh we're just talking about how amazing your pasta is!" Nathan says quickly with an innocent smile on his face. Adam chuckles and sits down. "Wow this must be a lively house huh." I turn to look at Adam's commentary. I swear if that was meant to be slightly offensive I'll fight him. "You have no idea." My mom sighs. "Go ahead and serve yourselves." She smiles taking a seat. "Thanks for the dinner mom it looks great." I say filling my plate while Nathan and Adam stare at me. "What? Didn't you guys hear her? Famous Pasta. Meaning it's really freakin good. If you don't eat it I will." I shrug and smile. "Iris sweetie, manners." She says. "Hey I'm just bein me." The only reason I'm not using my table manners is because I wanna see if this guy would even be able to handle the real me, I mean I know he can handle my mom. But having a teen around the house is a completely different ball game. "I don't blame her, it does look pretty good." Adam says grabbing a lot too. Well that went completely opposite of what I thought would happen. I watch him for a second. I guess he's OKAY... so for now, I'll give my mom and Adam a break. My mom smiles happily seeing how much he enjoys it. Soon after Nathan fills his plate too.

So it's been a couple hours and now we're just sitting and laughing at the game cards against humanity. Adam seems to be a pretty cool. Definitely not gonna start calling him dad, that'll never happen but I like that he makes my mom happy and hey he's pretty fucking funny. Nathan's phone rang and he checked it after picking up his phone. "Hey dad, I'm at a friends house....yeah okay I'll be home soon." He sighed and hung up. "Sorry guys, gotta head home right now." This is gonna bother me so I gotta ask him. "Awe okay, I'll walk you out." I smile and get up setting my cards down. As soon as we walk out to his truck I turn to him. "See you tomorrow?" I smile with hope. "For sure." He smiles and kisses my forehead then turns to get in. "Hey Nathan?" He turns his head to look at me again. "Yeah?" He responds with a puzzled look on his face. "I know you'd told me a little about your dad.. but I feel like I still know nothing. You've been to my place a bunch of times..and met my mom. How come I haven't come over or met your parents?" He stares at me seeming a bit taken back. "Well..cuz I mean..my moms really sweet and all but my dad? He's super strict..we bump heads a lot and I don't want you to have to be there if we were to get in an argument....it's kind of why I like to get out of the house a lot." He finishes looking off to the side a little. I frown. "You should have told me, and I get it but, I'm stubborn. I still wanna come over. Also, next time let me know if you get in a argument with your dad, I wanna be there for you." I say hugging him close. He smiles sighing and wraps his arms around me. "You're such a pain sometimes." I smile and laugh lightly. "So are you." I say and stick my tongue out at him. "Okay I'll let you come over tomorrow." My eyes widen and I smile happily. "Really?"
"Yup."
