GENERAL

He couldn't believe the chaotic event of the day. All rolled in one day. When his friend Eikon called regarding the incident, he was talking to Logan, the P.I. He hired to find his son and the woman he loved, Dorena. He wasn't sure if that was her real name. Because they met in unusual circumstances. She was once a promiscuous one, but he loved her and accepted her.

Logan confesses to him about being involved in hiding Dorena.

He found out that Mikael is his son. He had been looking for him for many years only to find out that his son had been with them since he was only a young lad. Eikon introduced Mikael when he was only fourteen.

He needs to go back to the hospital. He needs to inform Eikon regarding Mikael's decision.

Eikon is his friend; they were classmates in college and joined together in the army. Both of them were in the position. He was once a general, and so was Eikon. But they resigned and changed their path. He's his first right hand, but when Mikael came and became more in demand, Eikon seldom participated with them.

He goes straight to the reception the moment he arrives at the hospital.

"Can anyone call Eikon Rios for me, please? He's the father of the lady that was shot this morning. I'm sure he's still inside. Can anyone tell him that Richard Miller is waiting outside?" He asked the nurse.

One of them walks towards where Eireen's room is. He waited for him to come out.

EIKON

He heard a knock on the door and opened it.

"Excuse me, sir, there's a man named Richard Miller waiting for you outside," the nurse told him.

"Thank you, nurse, I will see him," he replied.

When the nurse left the room, he turned to Coreen.

"I'll talk to Richard first. I won't be long," he said.

Coreen just nods. So he walks outside to find Richard. He is standing near the reception desk. They find a place where they can talk. Richard leads him to the chapel. If there's no one there, they can talk inside. Since there's only one woman seated inside. They decided to get in. Right timing for them because the woman is on her way out of the chapel. They both sit down.

"What is it, Richard?" he asked.

"Mikael surrendered voluntarily. He said that he is tired of doing his hidden life." Richard starts.

"I think Mikael made the right decision. I guess, so that he doesn't have to experience what I experienced," he replied.

"For sure he will not go to experience that because he is in prison. He will not be going to marry. He has no girlfriend either," Richard said.

"But since he surrendered, I'm sure he will not be going to stay there for long," he replied.

"There's another thing I want to tell you about. I found out that your son is my son. Remember Logan? The P.I. I hired to find Dorena—Danica is her real name. Well, Logan came to my house this morning and told me everything," Richard narrated.

He couldn't believe it. Fate has played with them perfectly. They live in the same world, sharing the same kind of life, yet they don't have any idea.

"Why we didn't see it. Honestly, he's more like you; he is the younger version of you, yet it didn't register in our mind," he said, shaking his head.

It's unbelievable.

"It never comes to my mind too. He's the same age as my son I was looking for. All the hints are laid in front of me, but I never saw it," Richard said.

"That's right, his intelligence, organization, and innovation are just like you. That's why you trusted him even at his very young age because you can see yourself in him," he said.

"I'm too blind. If Logan hasn't lost his wife, the reason why he took Georgina's offer, then I will die without knowing that the son I was searching for is just one touch away," Richard said.

"You mean Logan followed Mikael's growing up?" he asked.

He wonders why Logan knew about Mikael if he only worked for the general's wife way back many years ago.

"Yes. Georgina made sure that Danica was sent out of my reach. Georgina came to Danica's work and threatened her. Logan pretended to offer his help. Since Danica was vulnerable at that time, she accepted Logan's help. He promised her that he would take care of her. He brought her out of here using Georgina's money." He stops for a while.

He is running out of breath. He could see that Richard was very angry because he was so red.

"I understand," he said.

"Logan pretended that he was interested in Danica. That's why he knows about Mikael. He was there when he was born. I thought that he was still working for me. I'm just so stupid. When Mikael was born, he only came and visited Danica once a month. He pretended that he was working somewhere. But until lately, he stopped, and he resigned," Richard continued.

"A year later, Georgina got pregnant. I was so happy that, finally, I could have my child. Because at that time, I was losing hope that I could find Danica. When Dorena was born, though I wanted a boy, I still loved her because she's mine." Richard pauses and releases air.

"But when she was thirteen, I found out that she's not my daughter. I heard Georgina arguing with someone on the phone, saying to leave them alone, that Dorena wasn't the daughter of the person she was talking with. I drove my car to get Dorena from her school and brought her to take a DNA test. I never confronted Georgina until the result came." Richard continues.

"After more than forty-eight hours I handed her the copy of the DNA result. Then I sent her away. I never told Dorena that she's not my daughter. I told her that her mother left her. She grew up knowing that her mother abandoned her." He continued.

He couldn't believe the story of Richard; he respected him, after all. He's been the only person who never looks down at him. He's an orphan, and because of Richard's generosity, he was able to continue in college. Richard has taken him into their home and convinced his parents to take him so that he can have a brother. They became buddies. They went to the same school. He helped himself; he studied hard to get into a scholarship, and it was granted.

"Where is Georgina?" he asked.

"In the asylum. She can't handle her fate. She lost her sanity," he replied.

"That's bad," he said.

"Yeah, karma maybe. I understand Mikael's decision. I admired him for that, though it's... never mind," Richard replied.

"Still wondering why your daughter is out there if she is working with Mikael," Richard said.

"Likewise," he replied.

"I'll talk to Mikael later. I will come back here after I send Logan back home," Richard said.

"Thank you, Richard. We never talked like this before. Coreen was right that this incident has served its purpose," he replied.

"She's right. But, sadly, your daughter has to suffer," Richard replied.

"Yes, but she survived. This is the way that leads me to them too. I thought I was not going to see them anymore," he said.

"Strangest way," Richard replied.

"OK, I'll send Logan first, then I'll go back to check on Mikael," Richard said, standing up to leave.

He stands up, too, and goes out together with Richard. He needs to go back to see Eireen. He hopes that she is awake by now.
