Mikael
He felt too stuffy and sticky, so he decided to just have at least wipe his body with a cold, wet towel. He doesn't have to bathe because it will wet his wound, and he won't take a risk. He has many plans that he wants to fulfill. So he will look after himself carefully.
After he finished and felt comfy, he walked out of the washroom. He forgot to bring a change of clothes with him, but it's fine; he's alone anyway.
He blinks a few times when he sees the woman standing at the sliding door. He could see her back, but he could still recognize her. Whatever clothes she's wearing. She turns her head to look at his side. He felt her heart skip beats.
"Eireen?" He uttered her name.
He tried to sound normal.
"Hi!" she said; he could see that her eyes were on his stomach.
"Hi! How are you? Who's with you?" He asked.
"Azriel picked me up from the house, Lexie's order." She replied smiling; she looked relaxed and calm while he was trying to be calm.
"Oh, I didn't know he went out. Have a seat first." He replied, motioning her to the couch.
While she is walking to the couch. He walks to his closet to take a shirt and put it on and walks to the couch where she's seated and sits a person away from her. He heaves a sigh before he tries to speak again.
"I'm sure Azriel called Lexie, not you," he said.
"Yes, and Lexie called me," she replied.
"Thank you for coming here," he said.
"You're welcome," she replied.
"Eireen," he said.
"Hmm?" she replied.
"I'm sorry," he said.
He's so guilty for what he did. He is the one to blame for her near-death experience.
"Hey! I'm fine. I'm alive. I should be thankful for what happened. Too many wonderful things happened because of that incident. First I found my father." She said, looking into his eyes.
He manages to meet her eyes.
"Are you always like this?" he asked.
Because it's the guilt that is eating him.
"Like what?" she asked, confused.
"Do you know about hatred?" he asked.
"Yes," she replied.
"But you don't possess that in you?" He asked.
"No, I don't let it come near me. I'm forgiven; that means I too have to release forgiveness. Besides, hatred will kill you... softly," she said.
"You forgave me?" he asked.
"I never hated you, Mikael," she replied.
"Eireen. Did Father tell you---?" He doesn't know whether to ask her or not.
"That you love me?" She replied, asking.
He could feel the rushing blood on his face. He looks at her, and she's smiling. She's driving him nuts.
"Hey, you're blushing," she said, moving closer to him, staring at his face.
He covers it with his hands. He never felt so shy in front of people, especially in front of a woman. But having Eireen next to him, it feels like he's in court, accused and questioned for the crime. He could feel Eileen peeling his hands from his face.
"I think I feel the same," she said.
He sits up straight and looks at her face.
"Say it again," he said.
"I said I think I feel the same." She repeated.
"You mean you love me the same?" He asked for confirmation.
"Yes. You developed a bad hearing, I think. Your wound is in your stomach, not in your ear." She replied smiling.
He stands up and walks to the glass door and opens it. He couldn't believe it. He wanted to scream and jump for joy. He wanted to squeeze her. To kiss her. But he is afraid that he might hurt her. He controlled himself. He was ready to face her again when he felt a hand on his side.
"You don't believe me?" she asked.
He could trace the hurt in her voice.
"No, no, no—I believe you. If you only knew how I wanted to kiss you and hold you tight when you said that. But I'm afraid that I might hurt you." He said, holding her arms.
He will go mad if he doesn't do this, the only woman who has loved him despite his true color. His heart is aching for joy.
His father was so right about her. She's one of a kind. Heart forgiving person.
"Eireen, God, I love you so much, you know. I thought I would die and wouldn't see you anymore. That's why I told them to tell you that I love you when I felt I was losing my breath," he said.
"You have a mission on earth, Mister, and you're not going to die yet," she said, pointing her index finger at his chest.
"You're right," he replied.
He draws her closer to him. She's fitted perfectly in his arms. She may be younger than him, but she's matured. He felt her hands hugging his waist.
If only he dared to tell her his fears. She mustn't have been shot. He bends down to kiss her forehead and brings it closer to his shoulder.
He looked up and thanked God for saving Eireen's life and also for giving him a second chance to live. From this day onwards, he will promise to love this woman by his side who never judges him. Who loved him despite his dark side. From this day onwards he will walk with her towards a brighter side. He won't let his fears overtake him. He will deal with it rather than lose this woman, the first and only woman he fell in love with.
"You're so quiet?" She looks up at him.
"I'm just thinking how lucky I am," he replied.
"God blessed His people," she said.
"Can you help me become closer to your God too? You know I believe that He gave me all these chances so I will know Him too," he said.
Eireen tiptoes and kisses him on his lips. His heart somersaults, and he kisses her back. With pure love. His heart tightened with so much happiness inside.
They part from their sweet making out on the terrace when they heard clapping hands and cheering. They are in shock that they have an audience in their making out.
When they turned around, he saw that all his closest friends gathered in his room to witness their love story.
"Let's celebrate!" shouted Francis.
"Yes!" replied the rest of them.
"Well, this is the best love story ever," Belinda said.
Yes, this is the best love story ever. He couldn't agree more. It's between life and death.
