Chapter 16

                 Lily's POV

I guess it could be worse. I mean she could be dead! 'Okay Lily, that's not something to joke about.' I scolded myself. At least she was just turned into a toddler. It will be nice to get to know her interests as a child and grown up because we all know she is more mature than both my boys, plus Sirius and the Weasley twins. Granted they are great but they could act their age most of the time.

James and I sat down on the couch and held Abbe between us. She was still asleep from the initial reaction to the potion. Eli had chosen to sit in the arm chair next to it.

"You can sit on the couch with us, Eli. If you want, that is." I told him.

"I'm fine here, thanks." He mumbled back. Something's wrong,. I don't know exactly what but I have a vague idea. Call it mother's intuition. I handed Abbe to James and nodded towards Eli, indicating that I wanted to talk to him alone.

"Uhh I'm...just gonna....go do something." James stuttered as he walked to our bedroom. I laughed at his utter excuse for an excuse and turned to Eli.

"Now. What's the matter?" I asked my probably future son in law.

"What makes you think something's the matter?" He asked not looking me in the eye.

"I may not have taught my children that look but James gives me that look when he's upset. Now I'm sure you'd tell Abbe but as you can see, she is in a predicament. So tell me." I replied forcefully. Eli sighed and now I was positive that he was going to tell me.

"That's exactly the problem! Abbe's my rock. She helped me through the hardest times in my life when she didn't even know-" Eli was interuppted by a knock at the door. I slowly got up and made my way to the door and looked through the peep hole. To my relief it was just Maggie. I opened the door and welcomed her in.

"Hi Eli, Lily. Have you guys seen Abbe? I saw Professor Black, Professor Lupin and Harry down at the pool but I didn't see Abbe or you, Eli." Maggie asked curiously.

"Yeahhh about that..." I trailed off as something burst into the room. It was a little girl around the age of three with curly red hair to match mine and big brown eyes to match James' She ran to me yelling, "Mummy!"

"Umm who's this?" Maggie asked in a confused tone.

"That," Eli said pointing to the little girl, "is Abbe." Maggie stood with her mouth wide open just staring between Abbe, Eli and I.

"You expect me to believe that while I was gone for 5 hours, you managed to turn my best friend into a toddler?" Maggie stated furiously. We both just nodded in agreement as Abbe jumped into my lap. With that Maggie spun around and marched out the door yelling, "Why am I not surprised?!" I laughed at how she thought she should've known this was going to happen.

"Do you guys do things to Abbe often?" I asked Eli, hoping his answer would be no.

"Not me! That would make me a terrible boyfriend now wouldn't it. But I can't say anything for the others. I am sure Fred and George have played a prank on her once or twice." I laughed. Of course they did. i looked down at the little girl in my lap and smiled. She looked so much like me but also so much like James.

"Hey Baby Girl." I said, using the name for her I used when she was around the age of 1. She smiled and giggled. "Why don't you stay here with Eli while I go and see what Daddy is doing?" I didn't wait for an answer. I quickly handed Abbe to Eli and left the room to find James.

Eli's POV

Can you think of anything weirder than holding your now toddler girlfriend in your lap? Neither can I. I haven't even taken care of a pet before, let alone a toddler. Well, let's see what I can do.... I looked down at her and she lookd back at me with a cutesy little smile. In her brown eyes, I could see that she knew who I was. She still remembered me. Thank Merlin. "Well, since you know who I am let's do something that I love to do!" She titled her head in a manner that I could tell she was confused. "We are going to watch a movie!"

"Movie!" She squealed as she clapped her hands in delight. I chuckled and set her on the ground. "Let's pick out a movie!" I quickly went to grab the bag of movies we brought to watch with Jaelyn and was back in 3 seconds at the least. I pulled out several movies that I thought would appeal to Abbe. They were all Disney of course because both Abbe and Jae love Disney. I set out movies that ranged from The Jungle Book to the newest movie, Mulan. Abbe reached out and pointed to The Little Mermaid shouting "Fishes!"

"Okay we'll watch that but we need something to eat right?" I asked her. She nodded enthusiastically and I used my wand to conjure a bowl of popcorn and I popped the movie into the DVD movie and sat down on the couch with Abbe sitting in my lap and the popcorn on the couch to my left. I draped a blanket over the both of us and smiled when she snuggled back into my chest. 'I'd be a good dad.' I thought. I had actually been thinking about that a lot lately, marriage and stuff like that. I'm pretty sure that Abbe is the one but are we to young? I was interuppted from my thoughts by Abbe hitting me slightly, promptly followed by her say "Look at the fishes!"

I laughed and said "Yup, I see the fishes." She smiled and looked back at the TV. I went back to my previous thoughts. If I was really serious about Abbe and I getting married then I would propose but now's just not a time to think about it. I need to worry about now not the future. With that I turned to the little girl in front of me and smiled, playing with her little curls. What I didn't notice was Lily standing in the door frame watching us with a content smile on her face.
