[Lily's POV]

"I-I don't know." Marcel stuttered nervously as he played with the hem of his lab coat. "Ethan-"

"Ethan can go to hell for all I care." I snapped, thinking of the black haired vampire. He killed me. That bastard was going down. " I have to get back to Harry! He needs to know that I'm alright!"

"He'll kill the both of us if he catches us!" Marcel tried to reason.

"I just came back from the dead Marcel, I am going to get back whether you like it or not. Now on a count of three you are either going to get the ropes off of me or I'll do it myself." I snapped. Marcel was lucky that I hadn't lunged at him for his betrayal. He betrayed all of us after all.

"One." Marcel made no attempt to move. I was slightly hurt by his decision to stay put but pushed the thoughts aside. I needed to get back to Harry, that's all that mattered.

"Two." I was prepared to smash the chair against the wall. The only way for the ropes to come off was by breaking the chair. I bit my lip, bracing myself.

"Three." Just as I was about to throw myself at the wall, the chair with me, Marcel placed a firm hand on the chair so that I couldn't move. He got up slowly, his hands shaking as he grabbed the ropes, giving them a quick tug. They broke, falling to the floor in a heap. I instantly sprang up, wincing. My back ached and so did my neck. Coming back from the dead is hard work, trust me.

"Thanks." I whispered before heading towards the door. Marcel's hand was on my shoulder in an instant.

"There's one vampire guarding the halls. He's a citizen, nothing we can't handle."

"We?" I asked. Marcel opened his mouth to speak before changing his mind and just shaking his head.

"Let's go. He's just one floor up." Marcel lead the way, his footsteps soft. I tried to mimic his movements wincing every time my feet made a sound.

"Stay here, he won't be able to hear your heartbeat from here. Come running when I whistle." Marcel pushed past me, adjusting his glasses before he disappeared. Minutes passed by, not a sound could be heard. I waited impatiently, now doubting my decision to trust Marcel. Was this a trap?

A faint whistle came from up the stairs. I ran, two stairs at a time. The sun from outside warmed me to the core making me feel better than when I had been trapped in the cold basement. I turned the corner to see Marcel struggling slightly with the vampire. Though Marcel ranked higher than the other vampire, he was no fighter. I jumped into the fight, my fist raised. Just like Harry had done, I put focus into my fist and punched. There was the crack if bone as his nose broke. He cried out in pain, not thrashing anymore. Marcel was able to snap his neck.

"That was hard." Marcel said looking at the body like he was going to be sick. Something told me that he'd never been in a fight in his life.

"Is he the only one?" I asked. The pieces just didn't fit together. Why would Ethan leave someone to guard us if he thought I was permanently dead?

"Ethan doesn't quite trust me enough to leave me alone." Marcel explained. I bit my lip as I stared at the front door. The rain outside had worsened now, the thunder even louder. I walked towards the door my hands in fists and took a deep breath. I knew I had to be stealthy or I would be caught.

Just as I was about to fling the door open, Marcel stopped me. I was about to yell at him when he placed the two necklaces down into my palm. The cool metal of the key and the paper crane pressed against my hand.

"Take them. Their yours." He whispered. I nodded, clipping both on. My eyebrows furrowed when I realized that my necklace no longer shone when it pressed against Harry's. Strange. The blue light infact seemed duller than ever now, to the point where it seemed depressing. The paper crane necklace was also dull in color, the once pearly white crane now seemingly ashen.

"Thank you." I said gazing at the front door now. "Your not coming with me?"

"No." Marcel shook his head sadly, "I'm a traitor, besides Ethan will hunt me down and kill me if I go."

I looked down before nodding. Of course, though Marcel had helped me escape, he was still unwilling to switch sides because he was being a coward. A coward.

"Goodbye Marcel." I whispered before opening the front door.

My heart nearly stopped beating.

There, standing on the front lawn was a startled Ethan who was bending down to fix his car tire. I stopped breathing, my eyes going to Marcel who seemed just as shocked. Ethan's surprised look didn't last long as he smiled cruely, his chilling laughter filling the air.

"Lily, run! Take this, it'll hide your scent so he cannot track you down!" Marcel suddenly yelled, throwing some sort of spray at me. Had he made this? I didn't have time to ask as he bravely tackled Ethan, letting out a battle cry. Ethan stumbled back, obviously caught of guard as Marcel clung onto him.

I ran, spraying the mist around me as I sprinted through the forest. I couldn't let him find me, I had to get back to Harry.

I felt tears start to slip out of my eyes as I heard Marcel's pained shrieks in the distance.

Marcel wasn't a coward after all...

He was brave.

He had risked his life to get me out of there. He might even be dead. I shook the thought away. I had to get to Harry, he needed me. I knew it, I could feel it. I didn't care that I was running through mud at this point, the rain pouring down on me.

Harry I'm coming.

Lily doesn't know that Harry is dead at the moment, she'll find out in the next chapter! And do you think Marcel is dead? Or is he alive and being punished?
