I looked over at Rin, a question bubbling in my mind. "Do you ever think that Neru and Len will get together? I mean, look at them."
We both looked over at the two who were standing about 10 meters in front of us. They were talking quite happily, about who knows what.
"I don't know. Len's never really been the dating type" Rin said, still looking at them.
"But just look at them!" I said, realising how cute they were together, "They'd be perfect!"
"But Miku, not everyone's like you and Kaito."
Kaito is my boyfriend of three years. I don't know how I could of possibly of been blessed with his presence. He's smart, handsome, tall, occasionally a dumbass but all in all he's the perfect boyfriend. I don't know how he likes me, I have turquoise hair and I have no colour in my face. Well, maybe the occasional blush.
"Speaking of Kaito, what are you two going to do for your anniversary tonight?" Rin asked, interrupting my thoughts.
"Nothing much, we're just going out for dinner and then going back to his place to watch a movie."
Rin raised an eyebrow, obviously having dirty thoughs, but before she could say anything Neru and Len walked over. "Yo Miku, congrats." Len greeted, throwing a hand up in the air.
"I just wanted to give you this" Neru added, handing me a small box.
I took it and slowly opened it. Inside was a perfect, crystal studded note shaped charm on a necklace. I held it up to the light and it sent a million tiny rainbows dancing across the pavement.
"Th--- thank you Neru. It's beautiful, you really didn't need to do this." I whispered in awe.
"No problem," Neru smiled, "It's nothing really, I just wanted to give you something for you and Kaito's anniversary."
At that, Neru nodded at Rin. Rin blindfolded me.
I was pushed into a car, and driven who knows where. When I got out I was pushed into what I think was a house. I was guided up the stairs and was roughly pushed into a chair.
I felt my hair being tugged out of its ponytails, attacked with a brush. I smelt hair burning slightly. Soon the torture ended and I felt creams being massaged into my face. Brushes went across my cheekbones, a smaller one went across my lips.
"Now keep your eyes closed" I heard Neru say. That reassured me a bit. The blindfold was lifted and I felt a foam applicator sweeping across my eyelids. A wand went over my eyelashes. A pencil filled in my eyebrows. A little more cream went over the ridge of my nose, my chin and my forehead. I assumed it was some form of highlighter.
"Open your eyes" Rin ordered.
So I opened them.
And I stared at the woman in the mirror.
She glowed radiance and beauty. Her eyes were dark and mysterious. Her eyebrows full and shaped in a way that complemented her face. She had soft pink cheeks. Strawberries and cream, I thought. And her hair, oh her hair! It was in a large bun, not a strand out of place. She had two small strands at the side of her face, curled in a loose corkscrew.
"And here's a final gift" Rin said, handing me a soft parcel.
I looked at her greatfully, and opened the parcel. Inside was a dark blue dress and two black high-heels which showed my toes. Neru and Rin moved out of the room, allowing me to get changed.
I got changed and looked at myself in the mirror. The woman stood there again. I moved one of my hands and she copied. I walked around, getting used to the height of the heels. She did the same. I put on the necklace that Neru gave to me, and I "ran" into the hallway where Rin and Neru were standing.
"THANK YOU THANK YOU THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!!!!!!!!!!" I screamed, giving them a hug.
After thanking them for what seemed like an hour, I called a taxi and met Kaito at the local five-star restaurant. The prices are through the roof, but the food is worth it.
When Kaito saw me, his jaw dropped. I walked up to him. "Miku?"
"Rin and Neru got their hands on me" I smiled, bowing my head slightly.
He took my hand and walked me into the restaurant.
A few hours later we were walking round to his house, hand in hand. He stopped suddenly outside a park.
"Miku, do you remember?"
"Yes. This is the place we first met."
He took me inside, sitting me on a bench, and he sat down beside me. I looked at him, confused.
"Miku?"
"Yes?"
"Will you marry me?"
Time seemed to slow down. My heart was pounding. I was only sixteen, but I knew that I was old enough to make this decision.
"Ye---- YES!!!" I cried. "But can we wait until I graduate?"
"Take as much time as you need." Kaito replied, one of his classic cheesy grins forming on his face.
I smiled at him, and under the moonlight we kissed passionately. It started snowing, sending crystals of ice to fall in our hair. The only thing ruining it was a slight bubble of anxiety rising in my chest, but apart from that it was perfect.
I was about to confess something else to him, something that could make him take back his engagement, but it started to snow heavier, so we stood up and continued to his house. We crossed the road, not looking where we were going.
I heard Kaito scream. Something collided with me. And I heard police cars, ambulances, people coming over to check if I was alright. And then nothing.
