Chapter 21 - A dream

Meikos' POV

I woke up, screaming, my hands flying to my stomach.

It was all a dream.

The stabbing.

The miscarriage.

All of it.

I looked at the calendar on my wall.

25th December.

Christmas.

I shakily got out of bed, and rushed to the bathroom where I threw up. I rinsed my mouth, helping to get rid of the acidic taste of the vomit. Then I got myself some cereal, because why not?

As I was chewing on the cornflakes, I remembered my dream. It seemed like I had it in different points of view, like I would be Miku at one point (why does Kaito still love a slut like her, I will never know), then I would skip to Kaito, before I turned into Neru and then myself.

Man, dreams are crazy.

This realm is crazy.

My watch told me it was just turning three in the afternoon. THREE IN THE AFTERNOON?

Just then the doorbell rang. I answered it, still in my pajamas.

"Hey Meiko".

I looked up to see Kaito. I smiled and let him in.

"Kaito... We need to talk." I said.

"I was about to say the same thing... It's abo..."

"I'm pregnant" I blurted out, interrupting him. Kaitos' face lit up, and then it broke twice as quick. He stared at the white wall.

"I'm sorry." I whispered.

"No, I'm sorry." He told me, in a surprisingly steady voice, before starting to mutter things under his breath. "Shit, shitshitshit. I thought we were being safe... Miku..."

He continued that pattern for roughly five minutes, before looking at me, sadly.

"You know Meiko, I love you." I nodded, and I was about to speak when he spoke again. "I'm sorry Mei-chan. But we can't be together."

My heart broke at those few words. "B-but... The baby..."

"I'm sorry... I want to be a part of its upbringing, if you keep it."

"How? You have Miku. She wants it to be just you, her, and your son."

"About that... Turns out it was actually a girl... But that's not the point. Meiko, you know how much I love you... But I can't be with you. Miku needs me."

"I need you." I started to sob.

"I know. But..." He seemed to choke a little on his words, before he stood up and left, leaving me crying into a pillow.

Kaitos' POV

I got out of there, and jumped into my car. I started driving home, but I somehow found myself back at the hospital.

Miku lay in her bed, still looking at me.

"Id yu oo it?" She asked, having difficulty with her speech.

I sat down, and took one of her hands.

"I done it." I said, and then I started to cry, the tears appearing faster than I could control.

"U rly lved her dn't yu?"

I looked up. "It's not that." She gave me a questioning look. "Sh... She's pregnant..."

Now Miku, instead of being sympathetic, was angry. "I NEW IT." She yelled, her speech a little clearer. "I NEW U LVED HR, BT SRISY YU HAD OO SLEE WF HER?"

This took me back, and made me remember the arguement that left me with a broken arm. "I still left her."

"TATS NT LE PONT!" She continued screaming, "YU SLET WF HER WHL UR WIF WS IN HOPITAL! YU SCK BSTRED!"

"I thought we were being safe..."

Miku started screaming stuff at me, which would leave a hole in your screen, badly written or not. Nurses started walking in, and I sneaked out, with Miku yelling obscenities at me.

Just as I opened the door, I heard a slight metal sound at my feet. I looked down.

And there lied Mikus' engagement ring.
