(Jack's POV)

I looked at myself through the mirror as I fixed my shirt. Thought I'd dress up nicely and impress her tonight. For our date.

Finally.

I could finally say that we were going on a date. It's something I've always wanted to say, but I wasn't able to since she didn't want to go on an actual date.

Tonight will go just fine. We'll have a nice time and maybe, just maybe, she'll want to kiss me?

After a while of giving myself a pep talk, I got out of the door and drove to Y/N's house.

Fifteen minutes later and I was knocking on her door with a bouquet of roses behind my back.

What? Gotta impress the lady, right?

She opened the door, grinning at me. She was wearing a casual dress that looked incredibly good on her. "Hey," I said, giving her a warm smile. She greeted me back and frowned her brows at my mysterious hand. "oh, right."

I gave her the rose package and she chuckled and shook her head. "Too corny? Damn, I should've known."

"You must think I'm a fucking idiot who's a little too desperate for a love life. God, I'm not like that, I swear.

It's just that I wanted to give you something and that I need to stop myself from talking now... Yeah. That's– That's what I should do."

I could feel my face burning with embarrassment. The quietness between us was making me even more nervous.

Did I fuck up already?

"Are you done talking?" She asked cautiously. I looked down at her playful grin.

I nodded silently and she laughed. "Relax, you fool. It's okay." She was surprisingly calm about this date thing.

She slid her arm around mine, so now we were walking arm in arm towards my car. "I repeat, relax." She placed her hand on my arm and I tensed even more. The fuck is she doing to me?

The car ride was quiet, until I turned on the music. And it happened to be Jack and mine's non-released music. "Wow, is this you?" She asked, listening to me singing. This felt weird.

"Yeah."

"It's so good. Damn, that's dope." She complimented.

"You think?" She nodded. I smiled in myself, it was like a smile of victory.

The rest of the car ride was chill. She was jamming along with the music and I smiled at the sight, even though most of the time I had to check the road.

After a while we finally arrived at the restaurant. I decided to go for Italian. I mean, she must like Italian, right? Damn, I haven't even thought of that.

We walked to our small table and I got the chair out for her to sit. "Gentleman you are." She commented. I smirked and sat down myself.

The conversation was pretty quiet. Neither of us really talked since this was really weird. Especially for her.

She must fucking hate me.

I could tell she felt a little awkward because of the way she kept looking around for a distraction. She even scratched the back of her neck and looked away from me.

Why the fuck am I not talking? I finally convinced her to go out with me, and here I am. Doing absolutely fucking nothing. "So," I said, clearing my throat. "how's life?" I started simply.

Her head snapped up to me and gave me a small smile. "It's good. How about you?"

"Same here. Just a little stressed."

"How come?"

"We're running out of ideas for the album." I honestly said. This was not satisfying at all. I kept feeling like she wasn't enjoying tonight.

And all I wanted is for her to have a little fun with me.

"Oh, maybe I can visit you guys sometime. Help a little, not that I'm such a musician but maybe I can try?" She chuckled.

I smiled in return, "I'd love that."

It was quiet again after that. "Uh, so. What are some of your favorite books?" I basically slapped myself for that stupid question.

It's 2016, who the fuck reads anymore? (a/n: this was not supposed to be offense or something)

She raised her brows. "I usually read Stephen King and stuff like that." I could tell she was genuine about reading because of the way her voice suddenly changed.

I nodded, waiting for her to continue. "Tell me more."

"Uh, are you sure? I don't want to bore you with books." She awkwardly chuckled.

"You're not boring me! I like you talking about the things you love." Alright, well. That escalated quickly.

She blushed for a slight second but it got replaced by a smile. Y/N talked about her loving for books. And I surprisingly loved every second of it.

Score.

"You obviously don't look like someone who likes books, so I'm not assuming you have a favorite book."

"You got me there. But I do have a favorite book. It's The Rainbow Fish."

"The Rainbow Fish."

"Yeah, you know what I mean." I softly and playfully kicked her leg. "The prettiest fish in the sea." She chuckled.

"What about Nemo?"

"He's alright. But come on, The Rainbow Fish wins in every kind of way." She laughed a little harder now. God, I loved that.

The conversation was more alive after that luckily. And before I knew it the restaurant was about to close. "Oh, God. It's almost midnight." She laughed with widened eyes.

"We talked way too much."

"Yeah, way too much bullshit." I laughed and shook my head.

I paid the bill – after Y/N threatened to cut my balls off – and we left. We were in my car again and on our way back to her house to drop her off. Damn, that sucks.

We were full on jamming to Justin Bieber's Purpose – yes, I actually did that – and before we knew it we were in front of her house.

Our laughs turned down a little and I also turned the music off. "I had a good time." She genuinely smiled at me. "Thank you."

"Anytime." I nodded.

She pursed her lips, not knowing what to do. "You can kiss me, you know." I teased. She laughed at my comment.

"I know, but I don't know if I want that or not."

I frowned my brows at that, "Why not?"

"Because I might actually fall for you if I kiss you."

I fucking did it.

"Should I make that decision for you? Yeah, I think I should." Before she could protest I leaned in, grabbed her chin and softly kissed her.

I pulled back, not wanting to scare her away. She looked at me with a warm-hearted smile. "Good night, Jack."

"Good night, princess."
