(Back to Jojo's POV)
I sprint as fast as my two legs will take me away from Maddie!!! What did I do?!?! How could I let myself come that close to her perfection.
After what seems like an hour of running I stop and take a rest. I don't know where I am, I start to wonder around what seems like an abandoned town. There are no people or animals in sight.
I wonder for what seems like hours. I still have no sign of life other then plants and insects.... Alone!
I look up into the sky and see the twilight sky starting to fill in gradually.
"Hey" I hear from behind me, it's Maddie
"Hello Madison" I reply, I would try to run away but I know that I just can't leave her again. I have to face the music for what I did to Maddie.
"Jojo please stay" she says as she steps forward and grabs my hand
"I'm not going anywhere" I reply taking her hand back.
We stand there together for what seems like years. I close my eyes and enjoy Maddie's company in this lonely world..... For once I feel like someone actually cares. By the time I open my eyes I notice it's all ready pitch dark.
"What are we going to do?" I ask Maddie as I see her. Looking around. She is smart and has a way with the world so I have a feeling she will be able to come up with a plan.
She points down to the picnic basket. I didn't even know she brought it.... I guess I was to busy...
"Follow me" Maddie says as we take out the picnic blanket and lay it on the middle of a grassy field. I use the last of my cell phone battery as a flashlight so Maddie and I can see as we lay the blanket down.
We hop onto the blanket and I lay next to Maddie. I hold her hand and she holds mine. We lay there in silence, till I decide to interrupt.
"What is your favorite constellation?" I ask
"The Big Dipper, how about you?" Maddie whispers
"Your eyes are brighter then all the stars in the sky" I answer with a slight smile. She smiles back at me.
"I'm going to go on to bed, goodnight Jojo" Maddie says as she curls up on her side.
"Goodnight" I reply
I close my eyes and take in the darkness..... It's not completely dark because now I have a bright light in the center of my world and I never want to let her go!
