Chapter 6
Ros was the first one on the Grid that morning. She had spent most of the night worrying about the operation. They needed to find a connection between Grybov and this lab he obviously wanted to steal a virus from. So she sat down to work. There had to be a connection, a way that Grybov got this much insider knowledge of the area. And she would find it.

Lucas woke up from a deep and dreamless sleep. He hadn’t slept as good as that, since… well, he couldn’t remember. It had to be ages ago. It was still dark outside so he couldn’t have been asleep for more than a couple of hours but he felt great. He smiled softly at Nikki who was snuggled up into his side. There was a tugging at his heart when he thought about Nikki that he tried to ignore. He was in deep trouble, because he couldn’t really. He cared too much about her. And since last night, well… things hadn’t gotten easier. But Lucas forced those thoughts out of his head. He wanted to stay in this small bubble of happiness for a while longer. He hadn’t felt like that in too long.
Nikki sighed softly and moved closer to Lucas still, shivering a little bit. Lucas immediately pulled the blanket up around them and wrapped his arms around Nikki, keeping her warm with his body. They could sleep for a bit longer…

Lucas was fast asleep by the time Nikki woke up. He looked so very sexy when she looked at him, his hair all tousled, his face relaxed. She carefully traced the outline of his face, running her hand through his hair.
Lucas woke up. “Good morning.” He mumbled, sighing. Nikki smiled. “You slept well?” she asked. He grinned. “You saw, didn’t you? I haven’t slept that good in forever.” He said. “How is your ankle? Feeling better?” Nikki smiled. “I think it is.” She said lowly. Lucas grinned. “I could take a closer look, just to be sure…” he mumbled with a smirk and caressed her calf, moving down until he was kissing her stomach, moving downwards, lingering at her tattoo. Nikki sighed, laughing a little.
Lucas was humming softly to himself, enjoying this moments more than he should. Or ever had enjoyed anything. But, he needed to tell Nikki a few things. He had to explain… who he was. What he was. He sighed softly and decided he would, in a few minutes. He would not spoil this moment. And he had no idea how Nikki would react to what he was… there was still too much she didn’t know.

“Miss Myers?” Ros turned around and saw Colin Parker coming towards her. He had spent the last night keeping an eye on Lucas. “Yes. What is it?” “I just thought you’d like to see those.” Parker said and passed Ros an envelope. She took it and looked at the photos that were inside.
They showed Lucas and the girl form the bar. In a bedroom, undressing each other, making out. It was hard to mistake the tattoos. It was definitely Lucas. “Where is this?” Ros asked. She had an idea already, but hoped she was wrong. Even though she doubted it. After all, Lucas seemed to have gotten attached to certain parts of this operation. “Where is this?” she asked. “His flat.” Parker said. “The woman got there around 1.30 am, not an hour later I took those.” Ros gritted her teeth. “Thank you.” She put the pictures back in the envelope but just then Harry came by and he caught a glimpse.
“What’s this, Ros?” She looked up, handing him the envelope after a moment of hesitation. “I kept an eye on Lucas…” she explained. Harry drew a sharp breath. “Who is this?” Ros looked up. “The girl from the bar, in his flat. Last night.” Harry nodded. “I am not sure if we can rely on Lucas’ intel… we have no idea who she is…” Ros said. Harry nodded again. “Get her checked, I never thought this was like that. And get them here.” “Of course I do.” Ros said. Harry looked at her again then placed the photos back on the table and went inside his office.
