A few days after Annie and I filled out our forms, it is time to take our pictures. At 7:00 a.m. I hear a knock at my front door. Groggily, I get up from bed and walk down the hallway. I open up the door and immediately Annie walks in.

"What are you doing here?" I yawn.

"We have to get ready for our pictures!" she bubbles.

"But it's 7 in the morning," I say, anger creeping into my voice. Annie knows how much I love my sleep.

"I know. I'm late!" she exclaims with a worried look on her face.

"Annieeeeee," I moan as I shut the door. I go to sit down at the table and put my head in my hand. Annie is going through cupboards and the fridge.

"What are you doing?" I question.

"Making breakfast," she states. She finds what she needs and puts it all in a blender. The color turns to a dull green as she blends the ingredients all together.

"Eww. What is that?" I ask.

"Just a little concoction," she says dreamily. She pours it all into a cup and walks over to me.

"If you think I am drinking tha-"

"Oh, come on," she cuts me off. "You'll like it. Trust me."

I look at her, then to the monster she has created. Reluctantly, I reach out and grab the cup. It smells like...vegetables. I shudder.

"Come on. It's not that bad!" Annie exclaims. "I drink it whenever I know it's going to be a long day."

"It's going to be a long day?" I whine.

"Well..." she pauses looking uncomfortable under my death stare. "Just please drink it! It's good for you!" she begs.

I sigh and take a small sip. It actually isn't that bad. I look at Annie and she has a victorious smile on her face.

"I knew you would like it!" she says.

I roll my eyes and continue to drink. Annie then gets up starts to walk toward my bedroom. I get up and follow her, still drinking the weird drink. We arrive at my room and she immediately opens my closet.

"Alright," she mutters to herself. "What are you going to wear today?" she asks, still talking to herself.

Annie is wearing a navy blue sundress that has white polka dots all over it. She has her hair in a braided crown. Half of the her hair is braided while the other half lies flat on her back. She finally finds an emerald green sundress for me to wear.

Annie pulls out the dress with a look of awe on her face. "This is perfect!" she squeals.

"It matches the color of the drink you made me," I joke.

She playfully slaps me in the arm. "Try it on," she pleads.

I grab the hanger and change into the dress. It really is beautiful. I turn around to face Annie.

"You already look like a princess," she says while wiping fake tears from her eyes.

I laugh and we both head to the bathroom. Annie grabs the brush from the drawer and starts to comb my hair.

"Do you mind if I do the same hair style on your hair?" she asks.

I nod and she gets to work. She brushes out my long hair and begins to braid. After she is done she begins to pull some makeup out of her bag.

"Oh, no!" I say.

"Come on, Victoria. Please?" she asks.

"No! You know I hate makeup!"

"Not even a little?" Annie pleads.

I look at her eyes and give in. I sigh. "Only a little. I don't want to have to scrape off pounds of makeup when I get home, though."

Annie smiles. "Of course! Only a little. I promise!"

Alessa then peaks her head into the bathroom. She looks at us and then smiles.

"What are you guys doing?" she asks.

"We're getting ready for the picture," replies Annie as she applies mascara.

"What are you doing up so early?" I question. She usually sleeps in until about 10.

"It's only 9:30," she responds.

Annie gasps. "We're going to be late!" She starts packing all of her things into her bag.

"Can I come with you guys?" Alessa asks.

"Sure. Just get ready quickly, ok?" I say.

"Ok!" she yells as she runs to her room.

A few minutes later we are ready and walk out the door. W start walking towards City Hall where the pictures are going to be taken.

"You have the forms, right?" I ask Annie.

"Yep," she replies and we continue walking.

We turn the corner and see girls wrapped around the block to get their picture taken and form submitted.

I breathe out a sigh and hear Annie mutter to herself about coming earlier. We walk towards the end of the line.

"Are we seriously going to wait this long?" whines Alessa.

I just nod and pick at the hem of my dress.

After what seemed like hours of waiting in line, it is Annie's turn to get her picture taken. She hands her form to a lady and sits down on the stool for her picture. As she is smoothing out her dress, the camera man takes her picture and screeches, "Next!"

"But I wasn't ready!" stammered Annie. She looks as though she is about to cry.

"Sorry," says the camera man in a very unapologetic way. "Next!"

"But, but I-" stammers Annie.

"I said NEXT!" he yells.

Annie pops off the seat and runs away crying. Alessa chases after her and I go hand my form to the lady. She quickly files it away and watches me sit down.

"Are you ready?" the camera man asks sarcastically.

I nod and put on my best smile.

"Next!" I hear him say as I walk away.
